Epidemiology

Programme Description
The Doctoral Programme in Epidemiology consists of two specializations, which are:

Clinical Epidemiology
This Programme is designed to produce graduates who are highly competent in the field of Epidemiology and are able to implement their competence in etiology, diagnosis, prognosis and disease surveillance; developing methods, procedures and instruments for clinical trials, making effective and efficient clinical decisions; developing models/indicators for a quality medical services; and contributing to the development of clinical medical science through an epidemiology approach.

Community Epidemiology
This Programme is designed to produce graduates who are highly competent in the field of Epidemiology and are able to implement their competence in etiology/determinant research, diagnosis, effects and interventions on the issues of public health; developing methods, procedures and instruments for an efficient and effective decision making in relation to public health; developing methods and indicators for the assessment of public health issues; contributing to the development of Epidemiology in the attempt to improve public health; and developing monitoring and evaluation programmes for public health through qualified public health surveillance.

Notes:
The required courses for the Ph.D. Programme in Epidemiology is the same with the required courses in the Doctoral Programme in Public Health.

The electives for the Ph.D. Programme in Epidemiology specializing in Community Epidemiology are: Intermediate Epidemiology, Introduction to Epidemiology I, Advanced Analytical Application to Epidemiology I, Literature Reviews for Proposal Writing, Methodology in Epidemiology II, Advanced Analytical Application to Epidemiology II, Implementing Epidemiology in Health Policy, independent study.

Scientific Journal
The Faculty of Public Health Sciences facilitates all students from bachelor to doctoral degree to publicize their scientific paper in the scientific journals published by the Faculty of Public Health Sciences, which are National Journal of Public Health, the Journal of Health Policy and Administration in Indonesia, and the Journal of Hospital Administration in Indonesia.

Tuition
The tuition fees amount to 16.500.000,- IDR per semester for both regular classes and special classes. The Development Fund amounting to 8.500.000,- IDR for regular class is to be paid only upon admission.
