In his lecture, Prof. Dr. Harimurti Kridalaksana he explained in that there are some elements that a language researcher should have. A language researcher should be exposed to reading and writing. A language researcher has to read the works of previous academicians to recognize the writer’s quality and interest fully comprehend it for further research and understand the way to present the research in linguistic scientific language style. Researchers are also advised to read linguistic journals and journals of humanities, reading linguistic bibliography, reading linguistic collective works, getting used to writing simple and brief work of observation on language phenomena in the neighborhood around and also getting used to writing popular works on language. To guarantee the relevance of the research result, researchers are strongly advised to use current linguistic paradigm and theory, such as researching on syntax using generative paradigm. In doing a research for scientific works, the scientific work itself should indicate the related scientific community. This could be done by learning the pillars of scientific writing and the methods used in the writing. Without scientific works, the community of linguistics has no identity.

Linguistics has recently been developed significantly. This development could be seen from the various more theories and researches and the rising of many linguistic movements and ideologies. The development of the theories has been prevalent in many linguistic concerns such as phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. Other than that, researches from the development of the theory have grown rapidly. The development of theories and the increasing number of researches cannot be separated from the movement and ideologies that underlie and enrich linguistic world. Practices on linguistics up until 60's are indicated by inductive generalization in scientific investigation. In other words, language data are observed first, and then a theory is created based on the organization of the data. However, it is not always like that. In recent linguistic investigations, observation is also full of theories, despite of being descriptive and analytic. In scientific works, it’s good to have the background concepts of linguistic researches being classified so that we could obviously see the conceptual differences behind the terms. The concepts are theories, paradigm, tendency, ideologies, and movement. This was meant to make a researcher aware of his/her position in his/her research activity.(Vra)
