The National Committe for Research Animal Development is proud to announce The International Symposium on Laboratory Animal Science 2009 (ILAS 2009) and trade exhibition to be held from 26-29 April 2009 at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall in Bangkok, Thailand.
The theme is “Ethics, Welfare and Legislation on the Use and Care of Laboratory Animals”.
On behalf of the Organizing Committe of the International Symposium on Laboratory Animal Science 2009, we would like to invite you to participate in this event. We are delighted to have over 50 animal units who would be present to promote their services and products and we also have the Government’s approval to promote this symposium internationally. The purpose of this symposium is to serve as a platform for participants and exhibitors to exchange ideas and information with respect to ethics, regulation, and guidelines for the use and care of laboratory animals. Participants will have opportunities to listen to a number of distinguished speakers, including Prof. Peter Doherty (keynote speaker), a Nobel prize laureate in Physiology and Medicine, 1996, who has kindly accepted to be a keynote speaker in this symposium, and will share with us his knowledge and expertise which will be mutually beneficial for learning among international and local delegates.
As a consequence of increasing use of laboratory animals, there is an urgent need for scientists to be aware of ethics, welfare and legislation on the use and care of laboratory animals. This forum will be a platform for the strategic planning to develop the care and use of animals in the country. As for exhibitors, this will be an excellent opportunity to showcase their latest products to the participants, particularly those who come from other countries in the region and those who are looking forward to establishment of mutual benefits with respect to education and awareness of the products from these exhibitors.
