A sustainable world can be built by breaking through disciplinary boundaries, developing integrated scientific approach and interdisciplinary cooperation. Applied science and basic science are just as important for sustainable development and should not be competed with one another. The development of basic science requires a productive environment. Therefore, long-term national, regional and international investments are needed to advance fundamental knowledge. Once again, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UI is being the host of the event of an integrated scientific meeting among mathematics, physics, geosciences, chemistry, biology and environment disciplines supported by the Commission for Basic Science-Indonesian Academy of Sciences (KIPD-AIPI) and Research Center for Chemistry – Indonesian Institute of Sciences (Puslit Kimia-LIPI). The Second Basic and Applied Sciences Interdisciplinary Conference (BASIC) 2018 will involve many participants in the country and from other countries, from various universities, R & D Institutions and also societies. It aims to provide a network for academics and researchers in the fields of mathematics, natural and environmental sciences to share their ideas and experiences, update with current developments and encourage the collaboration between researchers or institutions that can improve quality and quantity of the research results. This scientific meeting is expected to encourage a critical and conducive academic atmosphere and develop a culture of reporting research results in the form of scientific articles. This 2018 event will be conducted in conjunction with the 3rd International Science and Mathematics in Academics Research Talks 2018 (3rd ISMART 2018). We welcome researchers, lecturers, graduate students to participate in the events.
