To encourage students to compete at national and global levels, Universitas Indonesia (UI) strives to provide quality education for all students. UI aid sources include tuition fee relief from UI, scholarships from the government, and scholarships from non-government, such as those obtained by 25 UI students from OK Bank Indonesia through the OK Bae Jung Scholarship Program.

This scholarship is aimed primarily at those who have an interest, skill, or passion in Korean language and culture, and for students who need financial assistance. The scholarship recipients came from the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Psychology, and Vocational Program.

The scholarship covers living costs with total assistance of IDR 220,000,000. Each student received assistance worth IDR 8,800,000 which was given one time granted. The scholarship awarding event was symbolically held at the UI Central Administration Building.

Director of Student Affairs UI Dr. Badrul Munir, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., said that the scholarship program from Ok Bank Indonesia has helped students with financial difficulty. This scholarship is very helpful and supports them to alleviate one of the problems in continuing their studies.

On the same occasion, OK Bank Indonesia Chief Executive Officer Park Young Man said that it was an honor for OK Bank Indonesia to provide scholarship opportunities to help UI students develop their potential and achieve their goals in the future. He also said that it is not easy for students to get this scholarship, due to minimum GPA of 3.5 which must be met by scholarship recipients.

Meanwhile, the representative of student scholarship recipients from Faculty of Humanities, Dea Monica Ulandari, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and support from this scholarship. She admitted that getting this scholarship was an extraordinary thing. “This scholarship not only helps my family’s financial circumstances, but supports my dream of continuing my education at UI,” said Dea.
