Sapardi Djoko Damono

Sapardi Djoko Damono was an Indonesian poet known for lyrical poems, and who was widely regarded as the pioneer of lyrical poetry in Indonesia. Besides, Sapardi was also well known as lecturer, literary observer, literary critic, literary expert, and Professor of Indonesian Literature UI. Sapardi receives a lot of awards such as, Cultural Award(1978) from Australian Government, The Putra Poetry Award from Malaysia, SEA Write Award (1986), Kalyana Kreta (1996), Khatulistiwa Award (2004), and Achmad Bakrie Award for Literature (2003).
