Programme Overview

The general goal of the Department of Social Welfare undergraduate programme is to produce graduates who have the basic knowledge and skills to reduce social injustice and social inequality, as well as to undertake the management of social problems by developing preventive, curative, rehabilitative and developmental programmes. Students of the Master’s programme of the Department of Social Welfare are offered three (3) areas of specialization, namely: social development and local autonomy, programme planning and evaluation, and community development, poverty and corporate social responsibility.

The curriculum of Social Welfare undergraduate programme includes, among others, basics of Social Development, Service Organization Management, Disaster Management, and Philosophy and Ethics of Social Welfare. Graduates of Social Welfare are generally required in central and local government institutions, especially those in charge of social affairs, non-governmental organizations, or companies that have a social activities unit.

The study programme only accepts students through the Regular Undergraduate programme. 50% of the students enter through special invitation or the SNMPTN, and the other 50% are from SBMPTN and SIMAK-UI.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fee for the Regular Undergraduate Programme is determined in accordance with the ability of the student to pay. This payment scheme, known as the Equitable Academic Operational Fee (Biaya Operasional Pendidikan Berkeadilan /BOP-B), ranges between IDR 100,000 – IDR 5,000,000. Since 2013, Regular Undergraduate students are no longer required to pay a development fee, as it is subsidized by the government through the State University Operational Support (Bantuan Operasional Perguruan Tinggi Negeri / BOPTN). UI uses a Single Tuition Fee (Uang Kuliah Tunggal/UKT) payment system in which students pay for all the educational units determined by the study programme and they no longer pay according to the number of credit units they take every semester.
