CCIT UI Team Won 3rd Place in Huawei ICT Competition 2023

After successfully beating more than 900 participants, three students from the Continuing Education Program (CEP)–Center for Computing and Information Technology (CCIT) Faculty of Engineering UI won 3rd place in the Cloud Track competition in the Huawei ICT Competition 2023 Indonesia. Muhammad Nabiel Rayhan Falaah, Muhammad Husain Al Ghazali, and Aurio Hendrianoko Rajaa won awards after the preliminary stage and represented UI at the national level.

Director of CCIT UI, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suryaneagara, S.T., M.Sc., IPU, showed his appreciation for this achievement, “The team’s success in achieving third place in the Cloud Track competition shows their dedication, hard work, and expertness in Information and Communication Technology (ICT). It also shows that the learning approach applied at CCIT UI provides satisfactory results and is relevant to industry demands.”

During the competition, from September to December 2023, the three CEP-CCIT UI students were supervised by two CCIT lecturers, Indah Ayu Yuliani S.T., M.M. and Ivan Firdaus, S.T. “There are 4 stages that participants experienced in the Huawei ICT Competition: Preliminary, National Final, Regional Final, and Global. The preliminary stage is a college-level preliminary round which takes place from October 16 to October 30 to filter the best participants at the University of Indonesia. At this stage, the CCIT Team succeeded in representing the University of Indonesia to advance to the National Final level,” said Ivan.

Furthermore, the National Final took place from October to December 2023 which involved a test with true or false, single-answer, and multiple-answer questions. There was an extra score for participants who had completed certification held by Huawei, Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA), Huawei Certified ICT Professional (HCIP), and Huawei Certified ICT Expert (HCIE). The three members from UI completed HCIA certification and received additional points on the assessment.

One of the team members, Nabiel Rayhan, explained the process he and the team had gone through. “Huawei ICT Competition 2023 is divided into three tracks: Network Track, Computing Track, and Cloud Track. Cloud Track covers themes around IT technology such as Cloud, Big Data, and Artificial Intelligence,” said Nabiel. He added, they were given 90 minutes to answer 60 questions at the preliminary stage, while at the national final stage, they had 90 minutes to answer 90 questions.

The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UI, Prof. Dr. Heri Hermansyah, ST., M.Eng., IPU., said that the achievements achieved by the three CEP-CCIT students were a pride for Engineering UI. “The Faculty of Engineering community will continue to create an environment that supports, empowers, and encourages students to acquire achievements in various fields, including information and communication technology,” said Prof. Heri.

The winners of the Huawei ICT Competition 2023 Indonesia were announced at the Indonesia Digital Talent Day 2023 event “Unleash Digital Talent Potential Towards Golden Indonesia 2045” in December 2023. The event was held at Tarumanegara University and attended by the Chief of Staff President of TNI General (Ret.) Dr. H. Moeldoko, S.I.P., M.A., Acting Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC, Ph.D., IPU, Asean Eng., and CEO of Huawei Indonesia Guo Hailong.
