Universitas Indonesia (UI) held The Asia Pacific Research in Social Science and
Humanities (APRiSH). This international conference was a collaboration of UI Social
Sciences Cluster that are consists of Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP),
Faculty of Law (FH), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Faculty of Psychology,
and Environmental Sciences Studies and Strategic and Global Sciences Studies as well.
The conference that was held at Margo Hotel on November 7 th to 9 th 2016 was titled
“Competition and Cooperation in Globalised World”. The theme that described
competition and collaboration in the global world was chosen because it was considered
relevant to the challenges that is faced by Asia-Pacific countries.
APRiSH conference was expected to be a media for academicians from Indonesia and the
other Asia-Pacific countries to share interdisciplinary perspectives in social and
humanities. This year, there were 524 papers and 2 posters were presented in the
conference that was held in three days.
Rector of UI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M. Met., was also attended the opening
ceremony of conference. In his opinion, Asia-Pacific region are rich in culture, religion
tradition, economical attainment, and political ideology that make them a perfect laboratory
for studies in social and humanities. “The conference is in line with UI mission to create an
excellent academic climate,” said him.
He hoped that this studies is held not only for the sake of sciences development, but also
for the Asia-Pacific people. He also hoped that the conference could produce a qualified
publication for other academicians, in order to study new things and broaden knowledge
about Asia-Pacific people.
Dean of Faculty of Psychology UI who was also Director of The Conference, Dr. Tjut
Rifameutia Umar Ali, M.A., expressed her pride of this conference that presented number
of speakers that is reputable on their subjects. Keynote speakers session was filled by
Prof. Philip Zimbardo, a modern psychology expert from Stanford University.
Meanwhile the plenary session was filled by Dr. Ali Akbar (Universitas Indonesia), Dr.
Muhammad Chatib Basri (Universitas Indonesia), Prof. Bambang Shergi Laksmono
(Universitas Indonesia), Prof. Adrian Little (Universitas of Melbourne), Prof. Christina
Maslach (University of California, Berkeley), Prof. Mikihiro Moriyama (Nanzan University),
and Laurent Zent (University of Houston). The conference was also filled by workshop
about Meta Analysis and Instrument Adaptation by Dr. Ide Bagus Siaputra (Universitas
Surabaya).
