UI is beyond ready to welcome a new era of higher education with the addition of 4 Smart Classrooms in the Faculty of Engineering. The 4 Smart Classrooms from donor partners increase the number of modern facilities in the Faculty of Engineering UI to 24 Smart Classrooms. The four classrooms are placed in the S and K Lecture Building.

The handover of the 4 Smart Classrooms was witnessed by the UI Chancellor, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, S.E., M.A., Ph.D., and carried out by the Dean of Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU, along with donor partners, Aland Rinni Patity, Senior Vice President of Bank Mandiri LLC., Anton Satyo Hendriatmo, PP LLC., and Cindar Hari Prabowo, Director of the Kamata Foundation.

In his speech, Prof. Ari said that Smart Classroom not only improves the quality of learning but also opens the door to inclusivity for various student groups. He said, “We are committed to creating a learning environment that supports student development. Smart Classroom encourage student involvement in the learning process. With interactive tools, they can collaborate, share ideas, and develop digital skills required in the modern world. This creates an inclusive environment and drills students for the challenges in the future.

With a capacity of 40–60 students, smart classrooms are designed to be flexible to various lecture models. The facilities provided include interactive smart boards, smart TVs, poly studios, and smart projectors with advanced features to support offline and hybrid learning.

According to Prof. Heri, the Smart Classroom not only offers advanced technology but also becomes a bridge of access for students with learning needs. “The use of multimedia technology in the Smart Classroom allows students from all over Indonesia to learn easily. Without attending in-person classes, students from marginalized areas in Indonesia can access learning materials,” he said.

Faculty of Engineering has begun revitalizing classrooms from traditional classes to smart classrooms since 2019. The modernization of 50 lecture rooms into smart classrooms is targeted for completion before 2025. Smart Classroom is one of the eleven flagship programs of the Dean Faculty of Engineering UI 2022–2026, which is the development of educational facilities that can accommodate the students needs.

The handover was also attended by the Deputy Chancellor for Research and Innovation, drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp, OF(K); UI Deputy Chancellor for Human Resources and Assets, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA; President Director of Airbus Indonesia Nusantara LLC, Dani Adriananta; Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility & SMEPP Management Pertamina LLC, Fajriyah Usman; PP Urban Operations Director LLC, Dian Adi Cahyono; Talent Development Expert Pertamina LLC Hulu Rokan, Satya Prihatmoko; Senior Manager of Development, Partnership and Formal Education at PLN Education and Training Center LLC, Imam Bari; and the Chair of Iluni Faculty of Engineering, Nanang Sugianto.
