The Indonesian Journal of International Law (IJIL) or the International Law Journal published by the Center for International Law Studies (Center for International Law Studies) Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia (FHUI) was successfully indexed by Scopus on February 24, 2022. This announcement was obtained through the Scopus website, which is a service indexation and journal database provider that is the largest until now. Scopus services are under the auspices of Elsevier, an international scientific publication publishing organization or company that was founded in 1880, based in Amsterdam.

The Editor in Chief of IJIL, Arie Afriansyah, SH, MIL, Ph.D., said that the success of Scopus indexation for IJIL is part of the Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia internationalization program. “The achievement of the Scopus indexed Indonesian Journal of International Law is the result of the hard work of all parties in improving the quality of journal management and has an impact on the quality of the publication itself. Hopefully the quality of scientific publications in the field of law can be better at the national and international levels,” said Arie Afriansyah, Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia lecturer, and international law expert.

Dean of the Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia, Dr. Edmon Makarim, S.Kom., S.H., LL.M., expressed his gratitude and gratitude to all those who have helped IJIL obtain the Scopus index. The Dean of Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia hopes that IJIL managers will continue to maintain and improve the quality of the journal, so that later it can be included in the journal quality clustering (Quartile) according to the assessment mechanism implemented by Scopus.

“We should be grateful for the Scopus index for IJIL considering this effort has been carried out in the last few years. I express my appreciation in particular to the journal management and all faculty management who have assisted in this achievement. I hope this result can make it easier for FHUI teaching staff, other law faculty teaching staff, and the wider community to spread legal ideas through reputable international journals,” said Edmon Makarim.

The success of the Scopus IJIL indexation is the hard work of journal managers, leaders, and academics in recent years as part of the Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia internationalization program. The Scopus index obtained by IJIL is expected to improve the quality of publishing legal scientific literature in Indonesia and increase the spread of legal thought from Indonesia to regional and international areas.

Faculty of Law Universitas Indonesia currently publishes 11 legal journals, both managed by the management of faculties, fields of study and study centers under the Djokosoetono Research Center (DRC). IJIL is the first journal to be indexed by Scopus since its publication in 2003. The current achievements of IJIL are expected to inspire ten other journal managers to immediately obtain a Scopus index or other international index as a prerequisite for reputable international journals.

The Indonesian Journal of International Law (IJIL) is an open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed journal, and is internationally recognized in the field of international law. IJIL serves as a forum for articles on international law in general and tries to present material and points of view from and/or about Indonesia and other parts of Asia and developing countries in general. Combining various thematic areas, IJIL aims to present current practice and theoretical reflections in various branches of international law.
