Terrorism and International Security Studies

The studies that have been conducted continuously in the field of terrorism have become a necessity for policy makers, academicians, and the public in general, both nationally and internationally. It is only a matter of time before Indonesia will be contributing to the development of terrorism studies through its experience and success in uncovering and stopping regional terrorist networks.

The Master’s Programme in Terrorism and International Security Studies is a pioneer programme established through the collective efforts of academicians at Universitas Indonesia who were driven to set up a study program that specifically addresses terrorism as a cross-border threat to nations. We believe that Indonesia is not on its own in facing the threat of terrorism and terrorist organisations would not have been where they are today without their transnational network. With this belief in mind, we, at the Department of International Relations Studies, offer an opportunity to those who are interested in learning about the historical origins of the international terrorist networks in Southeast Asia and other regions, starting from domestic problems, their interactions with foreign networks, to how nations have responded both individually or collaboratively with other nations.
