Master in Information Technology

Course Description

In the last decade the field of Information Technology (IT) has grown very rapidly. The role of IT is the lifeblood of modern organizations in conducting business operations and management. In particular, this trend has given rise to a need for human resources to build and manage IT. The Information Technology Masters Program (SK DIKTI No.2006/D/T/2005 dated June 24, 2005) under the auspices of the Faculty of Computer Science, Universitas Indonesia (FCS UI), is designed to fill the gap between the needs of industry and business for professionals, with expertise in IT.

The characteristics of the Master of Information Technology (MIT) Program include:

  • Emphasis on strong integration skills between IT applications and deep knowledge of organizational management and strategy.
  • The development of various characteristics of expertise in the IT field that requires more in-depth study related to various business and industrial sectors.

The competencies and abilities that are the targets of the MIT-FCS UI program are:

  1. The essence of knowledge and expertise in the IT field.
  2. IT integration in business/organizational functions and foundations as well as career support.
  3. Communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills in the scope of business/organization.

To support the research process, the MIT program is supported by laboratories with Information Technology-based studies, namely the E-Government & E-Business Lab and the Information Management Lab.

Study Length

The MIT curriculum is designed for 4 semesters, but it is possible for students to complete it in 3 semesters. Lecture activities are carried out at the MIT-UI Salemba Campus. Lectures are held in the evening (evening class: 19.00 – 21.30). Afternoon classes are only opened if the number of participants is sufficient (usually only in odd semester admissions).

 

Academic Requirements

Prospective students must meet the following requirements:
  1. Bachelor graduates with scientific backgrounds: Computer Science, Informatics, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics; or scientific fields other than those mentioned above with work experience in the field of Information Technology.
  2. Minimum GPA value of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  3. Participants with a non-IT educational background can apply by showing a minimum of two years of IT work experience. Proof of work experience in the form of work certificates, CVs and letters of recommendation from direct superiors into one pdf file with a scan of the legalization of the diploma, to be uploaded via the diploma document upload menu.
  4. Pass the Screening Examination at the university level (SIMAK UI). SIMAK UI registration is done online at https://penerimaan.ui.ac.id.

 

 

 

Tuition Fee

Based on UI Education Cost Reference Letter of 2022

The Master of Information Technology Education Operational Fee is paid every semester in the amount of Rp.20,000,000 for regular classes and Rp.23,000,000 for special classes.

The base fee that is only paid at the beginning of college is Rp.17,000,000 for regular classes and special classes.

Curriculum

The curriculum is designed to support job fields within the scope of IT management (such as IT/IS planning, IT implementation, IT management, software development, etc.) as well as career opportunities in relatively new fields (such as consulting and systems integration, network infrastructure, e-commerce). business, IT Governance, digital economy and so on). Career tracks are supported by the obligation to deepen and specialize in IT through the Final Work. Universitas Indonesia Masters in Information Technology curriculum is built by two main elements:

Abstract Information Technology (ITCore): which aims to provide competence and expertise to participants in the IT field. Courses that support these competencies are given in Semesters 1 and 2.
System Integration and Career Tracks (System Integration and Career Tracks): which aims to increase the ability to synthesize what has been learned. The courses in this section are elective courses to support the interests and careers of program participants.

  • Consulting Services or Scientific Publication (2 Credits)

4th Semester

  • Final Project (4 credits)

The preparation (proposal) and writing of the final work is carried out under the guidance of at least 1 (one) supervisor, and in the end will be tested orally by a committee of examiners consisting of at least 3 (three) examiners in addition to the supervising lecturer.

This field of interest collaborates with the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia (FEB UI) in its implementation. Interested students are expected to take three courses of three credits each from the FEB UI Masters of Management study program.

The Master of Information Technology Program is designed to produce master’s degree graduates in the field of information systems/information technology who have strong abilities in utilizing new technology (emerging technology), integrating technology and management aspects, having a global perspective and insight, being tolerant, and is responsive to problems in society.

 

 

 

Graduates Profile

Graduates from the MIT-FCS UI study program will receive a Masters in Information Technology (Magister Teknologi Informasi, M.T.I.). MIT-FCS UI graduates are expected to have the ability and competence to bridge the IT and business/organization fields. Graduates get added value in the form of the ability to solve Information System and Information Technology problems based on case study studies with academics and practitioners. In addition, participants gain expertise in articulating technical problems or solutions across organizations, as well as in business language.
