Until now, Universitas Indonesia (UI) continues to expand and strengthen global engagement in order to create an entrepreneurial university. For this reason, UI received and welcomed a delegation from Irkutsk National Research Technical University to discuss the potential for cooperation between universities, on Tuesday (7/3).
In her welcoming speech, UI Secretary dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D. said, “This visit is such an honor for us because Indonesia and Russia have established friendship since the independence era.” She added, as proof, Persahabatan Hospital, which is the teaching hospital of the Faculty of Medicine UI has been supported by Russia by bringing in skilled doctors and specialists.
In addition, dr. Agustin also said that UI was the first university to open a Russian Literature Study Program. This is what makes UI eager to look forward to this collaboration.
Responding to this, Vice Chancellor for International Affairs Stepan Bykov said, “The thing that makes Irkutsk University interested in collaborating with UI is because of the large number of students from various regions of Indonesia. This cultural diversity makes Irkutsk National Research Technical University interested in establishing this partnership,” said Stepan.
This meeting discussed collaboration in the field of academic mobility programs, inter-university Russian language centers, and double-degree partnerships. This collaboration is focused on the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Humanities, Vocational Education Program, and School of Environmental Sciences. Stepan said that this collaboration could be adapted to study programs in faculties and inter-university programs.
The meeting was also attended by Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Ir. Yanuar, M.Eng., M.Sc.; Deputy Director of the School of Environmental Sciences (SIL), Dr. Dony Abdul Chalid, S.E., M.M.; Head of the International Affairs Office drg. Baiduri Widanarko, M.KKK, Ph.D .; Head of Public Relations & Public Information Disclosure Bureau Dra. Amelita Lusia, M.Sc.; as well as UI officials.
Meanwhile, a delegation from Irkutsk National Research Technical University who were present at the meeting were Head of International Affairs Department Elena Donskaya and Specialist of International Affairs Department Anna Melenteva.
