UI Got 4 Awards in AMUNC

nisaDelegation of Universitas Indonesia Model United Nations Club (UI MUN Club) successfully got awards in a United Nations court simulation competition called Asia Pacific Model United Nations Conference (AMUNC). The international competition was held on June 29th to July 4th 2015 in Perth, Australia.

Followed by hundreds of students from various Asia Pacific countries, seven UI students delegation which was consist of Adeline Tiffanie Suwana (Faculty of Economy and Business, year 2013), Adry Garcio (Faculty of Economy and Business, year 2013), Anyssa Rizka (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, year 2014), Lestari Cinta Zanidya (Faculty of Engineering, year 2014), Muhammad Ali Riza ( Faculty of Engineering, year 2011), Sherley Mega Sandiori (Faculty of Law, year 2013), dan Syarifah Nadhira Anggitasari (Faculty of Economy and Business, year 2013).

The four awards that they have got are Best Diplomacy Award in United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) by Adry Garcio, Best Diplomacy Award in United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) by Sherley Mega Sandiori, Honorable Mention in Special Political and Decolonization Committe (SPECPOL) by Anyssa Rizka, and Honorable Mention in League of Arab States (LAS) by Muhammad Ali Riza.

There are a lot of awards that has been obtained by UI students since the first AMUNC, among others are Best Delegate by Kevin Emeraldi and Top 5 Best Position Paper by Hilya Nisrina pada AMUNC 2014, Best Diplomacy Award by Rangga Husnaprawira and Honorable Mention by Sartika Hasirman and also grand champion for best small delegation in AMUNC 2013, Honorable Mention by Ardhanti Nurwidya in AMUNC 2012, Best Delegate by Garlan Archista Duarsa in AMUNC 2011, and Honorable Mention by Rainintha Siahaan in AMUNC 2010.

Besides participated as delegate, in this year, UI also participated as director. UI sent off five students as directors, that was consist of Hilya Nisrina (Faculty of Economy and Business, year 2012) for Crisis Council, Kevin Emeraldi (Faculty of Engineering, year 2011) for Special Political and Decolonization Committe (SPECPOL), Safira Pusparani (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, year 2013) for United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Safira Ramadhani (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, year 2012) for League of Arab States (LAS), and Chandra (Faculty of Law, year 2012) for International Court of Justice (ICJ).

AMUNC is the biggest United Nations court simulation competition in Asia Pacific that tests the diplomacy ability and knowledge of the partipants about world issues, as well as the ability of debating, negotiate, and submitting good solutions for their nation as well as world’s good. Participants are not only challenged to be able to submit the ideas verbally, but also on written document just like United Nations resolution in reality.
