The University of Indonesia continues to explore the potential for collaboration with various partners worldwide, focusing on education, research, and innovation. Now, UI is ready to synergize with PT DMG Investment Trading through Osmunda Group and Sichuan Technology Co., Ltd., both industries engaged in the research and production of medical devices.

Osmunda Medical Device Service Group is a company that provides global third-party services to the medical device industry, including the Contract Development Manufacturing Organization (CDMO), Clinical Research Organization (CRO), and Civil Society Organization (CSO). Meanwhile, Sichuan Technology Co., Ltd. only focuses on In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) medical devices.

In a meeting at the Administration Center Building UI, the Secretary, dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D., said this collaboration would open new opportunities for both parties. “I am very pleased we can continue the collaboration. This meeting is important to plan potential collaboration in specific fields in more detail. We hope this meeting will open new opportunities that align with law and ethics and provide real benefits for both parties,” said Dr. Agustin on Thursday (01/02).

Meanwhile, the Manager Director of Guangzhou Osmunda Group, Wu Hongtao, stated that this meeting aimed to support innovation and establish a joint research institute with UI. Details of this collaboration include the establishment of an IVD research institute with UI, development of domestic research and scientific topics, and support of the achievement of local industrialization.

Furthermore, the development of IVD technology in China has shown significant progress, especially in dealing with epidemic diseases such as COVID-19 that require IVD (swab test) reagents. The IVD technology has advantages by providing the analytical data doctors need to detect patients. Meanwhile, Osmunda Group also presents a CDMO platform that facilitates third-party services for analyzing and developing medicines. The combination of IVD technology and CDMO platform creates synergy to address public health effectively.

The Deputy Chancellor for Research and Innovation at UI, drg. Nurtami, Ph.D., Sp,OF(K), said that the collaboration by the Osmunda Group and Sichuan Technology Co., Ltd., was in line with the UI Directorate of Innovation and Science Techno Park (DISTP), which is the unit that leads to applied and downstream to industries regarding the development of medical devices. “Through this collaboration, we can learn from Osmunda Group for developing Science Techno Park innovation,” said drg. Nurtami.
