In order to realize a cooperative relationship in the field of procurement, development, research, education, and training of human resources (HR), the Universitas Indonesia (UI) together with Indonesian Railways Ltd. (PT Kereta Api Indonesia, PT KAI), signed a memorandum of understanding at the Head Office of PT KAI Bandung on Tuesday (26/7). The cooperation agreement was signed by UI Rector, Prof. Ari Kuncoro, SE, MA, Ph.D., and PT KAI President Director, Didiek Hartantyo.

In his speech, Prof. Ari said that this cooperation has a positive impact on both parties. The Rector of UI hopes that the UI academic community can make a real contribution in preparing reliable human resources to support the cooperation that has been agreed between UI and PT KAI.

“As we all know that from the University many innovations are born in various fields of discipline that contribute to society, be it technology, the ease of other innovations of economic value. With this Memorandum of Understanding, it is hoped that the relationship that has been well established between the Universitas Indonesia and PT KAI can be further enhanced and beneficial for all,” said Prof. Ari.

This cooperation includes various activities, namely the development, education and training of human resources, including the development of digital capabilities, the implementation of research and development activities and the application of technology in the field of railways; assessment of development activities / projects in the field of railways; organizing professional certification activities; and implementing independent campus learning program activities.

President Director of PT KAI, Didiek Hartantyo, in his speech said that PT KAI strives to continue to improve its services and quality, one of which is collaborating with various parties.

“PT KAI as a State-owned Enterprises in the railways industry, continues to prepare and create, especially in efforts to develop and improve the quality of human resources. HR is a very important component for a company so that through this collaboration it is expected to be able to produce quality and superior HR. So, this collaboration is a concrete manifestation between UI and PT KAI together to build independence and cooperation in education and training. So, we hope this cooperation can provide maximum benefits for the development of rail-based mass transportation,” Didiek said.

On the same occasion, a cooperation agreement for discounted train fares was also carried out with the scope covering the provision of discounted fares on long and medium distance trains of 10% (ten percent) for executive, business and economy service classes. This discount applies to UI lecturers and/or education staff who purchase tickets through a mobile application with an account that has been registered in accordance with company regulations.

Also attending the meeting were UI Vice Chancellor for Finance and Logistics, Vita Silvira, S.E., Ak, MBA, CA; Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Assets, Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA; Director of Cooperation, Dr. Toto Pranoto; Head of UI Public Relations and Public Information Disclosure Bureau, Dra. Amelita Lusia, M.Si, CPR. While from PT KAI who attended, namely the Director of Commerce of PT KAI, Hadis Surya Palapa; Director of Finance of PT KAI, Salusra Wijaya; Director of Human Resources and General Affairs of PT KAI, Suparno; EVP Corporate Secretary of PT KAI, Asdo Artrivianto; Deputy Director of Education and Training of PT KAI, Handy Purnama; and the leadership of PT KAI.
