Universitas Indonesia (UI) has been named the 80th Best University in the World level which has a Broad Impact on the Nation’s Social and Economy through Research, Teaching and Community Service activities. The ranking was carried out by the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) World College Rating Institute in the list of 2019 World University Impact Rankings which was launched on Wednesday (3/4) in Korea and can be accessed via the https://www.timeshighereducation.com page.

The World University Impact Ranking is the only rating that assesses university performance based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This ranking also assesses the impact that the University has on the economy and society through innovation and discovery. In the first edition, this ranking involved 450 universities in 76 countries in the world.

The results of the ranking of the University Impact Ranking are based on the assessment of University performance in order to fulfill the SDGs determined by the UN. THE measures the performance of UI that is considered successful, namely those that meet SDGs 17 – Partnership for the Goals (Partnership to achieve goals); SDGs 3 Good Health and Wellbeing (Healthy and prosperous life); SDGs 4 Quality Education (Quality education) and SDGs 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (Peace, justice and strong institutions).

UI Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.Met said, “This is a great achievement and shows that UI is increasingly known to the global community. UI is committed to present solutions to the problems of the nation through the activities of Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, namely teaching, research and community service. This ranking also illustrates that a university is able to support the government in fulfilling the UN SDGs so that it can encourage the enthusiasm of UI academics to be more aggressive in innovating and working in the academic world.

The first Times Higher Innovation and Impact Ranking announcement was held at KAIST Korea April 3, 2019 and is a prestigious event that is followed by renowned universities that pay attention to future developments and discuss issues such as innovation, entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
