Overview
Universitas Indonesia (also knowned as UI) is a modern, comprehensive, open-minded, multi-culture, and humanism campus that covers wide arrays of scientific disciplines.
University Governance
UI is an internationally reputed research-intensive educational institution. Our broad-based research and education covers science and technology, social humanism and health sciences to prepare students for the global competition.
History
From the substantive perspective, this institution were founded by the Decree of the Government No: 22, January 2nd 1849, and the education activities commenced on January 1851 with the name of “Javanese Medical Doctor School”.

Surrounding Area
The main campus of Universitas Indonesia is located in Depok (West Java). Almost 80 percent academics and researches activities are found in this green campus. Living in Depok means students and scholars will experiencing vibrant, warm and progressive city environment. Depok offers high quality of students and scholars living standards starting from recreational facilities, mall, and transportation to support academics’ activities.
Overall, Depok City can be called as ‘youth district’, since the importance of the number of students. It is not surprising that Depok develop itself as a youth-district that facilitates the in-door and out-door youth activities. As the border between Jakarta and Bogor, Depok offers a unique academic atmosphere. Nearby Jakarta, it makes an easy access students to reach high quality living standard offered by big city such as Jakarta. In the meanwhile, students also enjoy green and fresh-air provided by more than 250 hectares of forest inside UI’s campus in Depok.
