Universitas Indonesia (UI) held Asia Pacific Student Forum (APSF) at Integrated

Laboratory and Research Center (ILRC) UI, and several location in Bogor and Jakarta as

well on September 21 st to 25 th 2016.

There were 66 students who were also participated in this forum that titled “The Role of

Quality Educatioan in Employment and Entrepreneurship: Through the Lens of

Sustainable Development”.

Beside Indonesian students, there were also students from several Asia Pacific countries,

that were Cambodia, China, Thailand, Bangladesh, Nepal and Mexico.

There were three important issues that were discussed in this forum, that were educational

issue, labor, and entrepreneurship.

“Hopefully, participants could get more knowledge as well as inspiration and networking by

APSF events,” said Kezia Priscilla (Student of Indonesian Literature major, year 2013),

Chief Executive of APSF 2016.

The forum was held for the forth time invited competent people to be the speaker on the

first day.

Mr. Francesco d’Ovidio (Country Director Indonesia & Timor Leste for ILO) and Matthieu

Cognac (Asia Pacific Youth Employment Specialist ILO) attended as speakers on the first

day.

“The biggest challenge in labor in Asia Pacific is job quality issue. There are still a lot of

young people that do informal job with low salary,” said him.

Another challenge is ability misfit between demand and supply in labor world.

Labor ability in Asia Pacific are considered still not match with qualification standard that

is expected by companies.

This labor quality issue is related with educational and youth issue and entrepreneurship

trend that is getting discussed due to technology development.

These issue are discussed in forum and presentation by bringing up study cases from

participant's countries.

Beside discussion and presentation, there were also tour event as well as cultural

workshop that presented distinctive culture of Indonesia that is directly participated by

participants.

On the peak of forum that was also as closing APSF event, there was awarding event for

participants, among of them was best squad award that is won by participant from

Philippines, and most active participant award (participation star) that is won by Arafat

Hasan.
