Universitas Indonesia (UI) Supermileage Vehicle Team got another achievement on Shell
Eco Marathon Asia (SEM) 2017 competition that was held at Changi Exhibition Center,
Singapore, on March 16 th to 19 th .
In this competition, Sadewa UI team took the 1 st place on Urban Concept Gasoline
category. Sadewa excel by 375 Km per liter record with gasoline-powered vehicle.
The second place was taken by ITS Team 2 with 336 Km per liter record, followed by
Garuda UNY Eco Team from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta with 221 Km per liter.
The forth place was taken by Bengawan Team 2 from UNS Surakarta with 213 Km per liter
record, followed by Cikal Ethanol from ITB on the fifth place with 198 Km per liter record.
These winner teams participated later on advanced competition at Changi Exhibition
Center on Sunday, March 19 th 2017 to determine tho top three that will be brought to global
competition in London this year.
SEM is a competition that is held by Shell that invited students from various country to
compete in designing, building and riding energy-saving vehicle.
Scoring system of this competition was decided by how far the car could reach with 1 liter
of gasoline.
On the competition, there was no minimum speed determined, the car may drove with its
speed standard.
Previously, this competition had been held in Malaysia (2010 and 2013) and Philippines
(2014-2016).
This year, more than 120 student teams from Asia Pacific and Middle East region took part
in this competition. From Indonesia, there were 26 teams from 19 universities in 8
provinces that represented Indonesia in SEM Asia 2017.
Besides UI, there were also Bumi Siliwangi team from Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia
(UPI) Bandung, and Batavia Gasoline dan Batavia Generation team from Universitas
Negeri Jakarta (UNJ).
