UI and Ministry of Transmigration Collaborate to Develop Patriot Transmigration Program

Universitas Indonesia (UI) and the Ministry of Transmigration are ready to strengthen collaboration in the academic field. At the meeting held in Meeting Room A, University Administration Center Building, UI Campus, Depok. The two institutions discussed the Patriot Transmigration program to increase the enthusiasm of the younger generation to contribute to the leading program.

Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Ir. Mahmud Sudibandriyo, M.Sc., Ph.D., said that this collaboration is UI’s effort to improve the quality of education, “Collaboration with the Ministry of Transmigration opens up great opportunities in the field of education. We want to encourage the involvement of UI students and researchers in contributing their knowledge directly in the field, while strengthening the role of universities in research-based national development,” said Prof. Mahmud.

The Indonesian Ministry of Transmigration is currently developing the Patriot Transmigration program which is divided into two main schemes, namely the Patriot Expedition and the Patriot Scholarship. This program is designed to strengthen the transmigration ecosystem through collaborative research and human resource development.

According to the Minister of Transmigration, Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara, the involvement of universities in this program is key to creating an innovative ecosystem in the transmigration area,

“Patriot transmigration is one of the leading programs of the Ministry of Transmigration which aims to accelerate the development and development of transmigration economic areas based on superior human resources in order to form productive, inclusive, and economically independent areas,” he said.

“We believe that if we invite universities to the transmigration area, we can work together to find a win-win solution that can meet the needs of the region with the scientific capacity of academics,” said the Minister of Transmigration.

The discussion on this collaboration was also attended by the Director General of Economic Development and Empowerment of Transmigration Communities, Dr. Velix Vernando Wanggai, SIP, MPA; and the Director of Empowerment of Transmigration Communities, Bondan Djati Utami, S.Si., M.M and the head of the work unit at Universitas Indonesia.

This meeting is an important moment in strengthening collaboration and supporting the government’s plan to expand the Patriot Expedition team as a strategic step in strengthening the mapping of the potential of transmigration areas. This involvement can be an opportunity to encourage real contributions from UI academics in accelerating regional transformation through research, innovation, and science-based approaches.
