The Rector of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.Met., inaugurated two permanent professors of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ratna Sitorus Sudarsono, S.Kp., M.App.Sc. as The Professor of Nursing from Faculty of Nursing and Prof. Dr. Sudarsono Hardjosoekarto as The Professor of Sociology from Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. The inauguration which was held at Balai Sidang UI attended by some important guest such as Prof. Dr. Boediono, M.Ec. (Vice President of Republic of Indonesia 2009-2014), Jend. TNI. Dr. Moeldoko (Commander of National Army of Indonesia), H. Irman Gusman, S.E., M.B.A. (Head of Regional Representative Council of Republic of Indonesia) and Professors from various universities.
Prof. Dr. Sudarsono Hardjosoekarto
In his speech, Prof. Sudarsono who is also a Secretary General of Regional Representative Council of Republic of Indonesia 2014-2019 delivered the discussion titled “Production of the experience-based knowledge to support knowledge-based government regulation: a reflection of SSM application and the role of policy sociology”. The application of Soft System Methodology (SSM) started to be introduced by Prof. Sudarsono at Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UI in 2009. SSM-based action research is a knowledge production tool based on experience. Compared to the positivism science, there is a fundamental difference on the validity standard. Validity standard on positivism is repeatability, while SSM-based action research is recoverability.
Production of knowledge by introduction and application of SSM-based action is take place on positional and relational attribute between scientific habit and symbolic asset on the scientific discipline of sociology. Furthermore, SSM-based action research also important to be developed on government regulation and program. Legislation at parliament which is rich in science needs engaged scientist who is act as the connection between the internal and external college world.

In her speech, Prof. Ratna introduced a model to improve the service and patient satisfaction which had been proven. The model called “The Practice Model of Professional Nursing” (MPKP) is a system (structure, process, and professional values) which facilitate professional nurse to manage the provision of nursing care, including provision of nursing care environment. This model is also aimed to improve the adherence of the nurse with the standard, decrease the number of nosocomial infection, and reducing the length of a patient hospitalization.
The improvement of MPKP in Indonesia is also cannot be separated from the provision of nursing care issues, such as the determination of the number of nurse which is not suitable with the needs, the lack of accuracy of labor management, the impossibility of the continuing care provision, the incapability of the nurse in collaboration, and the patient issues which are not possible to be analyzed comprehensively. Those kind of things needs a solution in order to develop MPKP in various hospital to overcome the problems between nurse, hospital, and patient.
The inauguration of Prof. Sudarsono and Prof. Ratna increase the number of the professor that UI has which is now reach the number of 295. Prof. Ratna is the 4th professor in Faculty of Nursing UI as well as the 4th professor in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Prof. Sudarsono is the 35th professor in Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UI on Sociology. (AY/Humas UI)
