Universitas Indonesia (UI), through the Directorate of Graduate Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA), successfully held the UI Cup Tennis Tournament on October 26-27, 2024, at the UI Tennis Court, Depok Campus. This activity is entering its fourth year of implementation which aims to strengthen the relationship between alumni and alma mater while strengthening Ul’s commitment to developing international standard sports facilities on campus.
The 2024 Ul Tennis Cup Tournament was attended by various categories, including 22 pairs of Women’s Beginner, 48 pairs of Free Doubles, 26 pairs of Age 90 (+45) Category Doubles, 22 pairs of Age 110 (+ 55) Category Doubles, 26 pairs of Age 120 (+60) Category Doubles. The total number of participants was 288 players, bringing together alumni from various generations and circles, in the spirit of brotherhood and sportsmanship.
This tournament also opens up opportunities for corporations to participate, either as sponsors or participants. Partner companies such as KEA, Tarzan, Bank Indonesia, Khaf, Wings, Indotex, and Dunlop also participated in enlivening this competition. KEA contributed an endowment fund, which will be managed by DPKHA UI as part of a long-term commitment to supporting the development of sports facilities and activities at UI.
“With this support, Ul hopes that tennis, which is currently popular among the public, can become a new means of developing the interests of Ul students outside of established sports such as golf and soccer. The presence of the corporate sector in this tournament reflects the synergy between the academic world and industry which is expected to have a positive impact on the UI community, as well as increasing interest in tennis at the national level,” said Prof. Fika as the Chairperson of the UI Tennis Cup 2024.
