Dr. Livia Iskandar, MSc is a psychologist who graduated from the Faculty of Psychology of Universitas Indonesia (1988-1994). In 1994, she received the Most Outstanding Student Award from the Rector of Universitas Indonesia after winning the JAL essay writing competition. For the same achievement, she was also rewarded with a Summer course prize at Sophia University in Tokyo, representing Universitas Indonesia. She was later awarded a Chevening Scholarship from the UK Government and pursued a Master’s Degree of Science in Counseling Psychology from City University in 1996, as well as a Chevening Peace Management short-course Scholarship at the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland (2003). By majoring in Counseling Psychology, she aimed to establish the Pulih Foundation Counseling Center, a psychological assistance institute founded in Jakarta (2002), while Pulih in Aceh was founded in 2005 after the 2004 Tsunami. Currently, she is the Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Witness and Victim Protection Institution (2019-2024). She dreams of socializing psychology as a means of recovery for victims of violence, particularly women and children in Indonesia.
