Architecture (KKI) Bachelor Programme

Course Description

This programme instructs the student in the basics, or theory, of architecture as a discipline, especially in certain sciences of design, as well as various optional courses that may increase the student’s skills and knowledge on certain specialised fields of study. Final assessments take the form of a paper (skripsi).

The Department of Architecture aims to produce graduates versed in the scientific basics of architecture and its applications and the ability to apply environmentally-oriented architectural design methods. Graduates of the Faculty of Engineering’s (henceforth FTUI) Bachelorship of Architecture hold pre-professional qualifications. They may either join professional, practical internships or continue their studies in the Professional Programme (Architect), also under the Department of Architecture, FTUI. To obtain professional certification, graduates must participate in an internship and pass through a qualification process set by the Association of Indonesian Architects (Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia / IAI). Graduates of the Department of Architecture may obtain employment in several lines of work. They may work, for instance, as an architect, an interior designer, or a supervisor of architectural implementation. Graduates may also work in other lines of work that require critical and creative analytical skills.

Admission to the Architecture Special Bachelor Programme is obtained through SIMAK UI, a written examination.

Additional requirements include TOEFL/IELTS certification; IELTS = 5.5 (Writing = 6). Length of programme: 8 semesters (4 years) — 2 years at UI, 2 years in Australia

Degrees obtained: Sarjana Teknik (ST) and Bachelor of Engineering
