The 7th Inline Speed Skating Championship of Solo Mayor Open Cup 2022 was held again. The competition which was held at Manahan Stadium, Solo, Central Java was attended by 1,368 athletes from various clubs in Indonesia. Even a student of the Public Relations Study Program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), Barijani Mahesa Putra, participated in the event and won 1st place in the senior men’s 1,000m category. Director of Vocational Education Program UI Padang Wicaksono, S.E, Ph.D. is very proud of Mahesa’s achievement again. He said that students need to be nurtured to continue working and making achievements. “I really appreciate Mahesa’s achievements. I am certain that other Vocational UI students also have the same potential to produce works and compete,” he said.
Mahesa said that the achievement he achieved this time was one that was not easy. The reason is, this year Mahesa also participated in several non-sport competitions which were new things for him. “When preparing for this championship, I tried harder. This is because I focused on various selections, such as the Outstanding Student and Abang None (Brand Ambassador) West Jakarta, which takes a long time. So, I have to catch up with training through additional and self-training, “said Mahesa.
He said that the short training he did was only for a period of two weeks. Nevertheless, Mahesa managed to bring home a gold medal as a representative from DKI Jakarta. “I am very happy because I can make DKI Jakarta and my alma mater, Universitas Indonesia, proud again. This success was realized because of the support from my family, friends, and also the campus. I hope that in the future, both myself and other fellow students, can contribute to the campus to continue to excel and become students who have high values,” he said.
After the inline speed skating championship of Solo Mayor Cup which was held on Saturday (20/08/22), Mahesa will prepare for various inline speed skating championships, including Inline Speed Skating Championship of Bekasi Regent Open Cup 2022 and a competition in Yogyakarta in September 2022. Then in November 2022, he will take part in the championships in Bali and in Jakarta in December. Vocational UI continues to provide support to its students to make achievements through the provision of incentives as appreciation for students who have achievements, both in the academic and non-academic fields.
