Jubilee Celebration ASEAN-Eropa 2015

Numbers of Austria and ASEAN university representatives gathered at Aula Program Magister Manajemen, Faculty of Economcs and Business Universitas Indonesia (FEB UI), Salemba, to celebrate 21 years of ASEAN-Europe universities partnership that are incorporated in ASEAN-European Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET).

Rector of Universitas Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Anis, M.Met., Austrian Ambassador for Indonesia, Dr. Andreas Karabaczek, President of ASEA-UNINET, Prof. Ketut Suastika and Austria National Coordinator of ASEA-UNINET,  Prof. A. Min Tjoa attended the event. In his speech, UI Rector said that the partnership between UI and universities in Europe has done well, especially in information technology research subject.

The collaboration research output between UI and Vienna University of Technology were presented with title “Detecting Labour Strikes in Indonesia Using Tweet”. The research was done by Mochamad Ibrahim from UI and Lisa Madlberger, B.Sc., M.Sc. From Vienna University of Technology.

Overall, there were seven presentations that were presented by the guests. Those researches are partnership output between Indonesia and Europe on research subject that is focused on Indonesia themes. Amongst researches that were presented were “Traditional Indonesian Architecture” by Dr. Ulrike Herbig and “Open Data, Smart City, and Joint Lab Initiatives” oleh Dr. Wikan Danar Sunindyo andDr. A Min Tjoa. The event was closed by  presentation from Prof. Zainal Hasibuan, Ph.D. from UI Faculty of Computer Sciences with his presentation titled “Past and Future Collaboration Under ASEA-UNINET Scheme”.

ASEA-UNINET is a partnership consortium of European Universities and several ASEAN countries, that are consist of Indonesia, Malaysia, Phillipines, Thailand, and Vietnam. Amongst of ASEA-UNINET members from Indonesia are Universitas Indonesia, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Insititut Teknologi Sepuluh November, and Universitas Udayana.
