Nia Ayu Ismaniati was selected as the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry ( UI) for the 2022 – 2026 period. In this process, Nia excelled from the other two candidates, Eva Fauziah and Retno Widayati. With the slogan “Towards an Independent, Superior and Innovative Faculty of Dentistry UI (FKG UI)”, Nia stated the principle of coordination that she would carry out when she became the new FKG dean. “As a Legal Entity State University (PTN-BH), UI has the mandate to carry out the UI Statutes based on PP 75 of 2021 and FKG UI as an integral part of UI will comply with this mandate, and fully support UI’s strategic plan , carrying out the tridharma of higher education. , as well as upholding UI’s nine values based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution,” he said.
According to Nia, based on Scimago’s data for 2021, FKG UI’s current position is very good. FKG UI is currently the best dentistry faculty in Indonesia, and number 35 in Asia. “However, this can still be improved, especially regarding other potentials that can be developed,” he said. These potentials include international class capacity building programs in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, increasing penta helix collaboration, endowment fund management, and increasing community service units at FKG UI as a source of income, such as the center of orthognathic surgery, and the center of cosmetology dentistry. The challenges that must be faced by FKG UI in the future are the demands of changing times that demand digitization, as well as the uncertainty of the current pandemic conditions. To face these challenges, the first work program that is prioritized is the development of digital infrastructure in the field of education and teaching.
Second, he will emphasize research quality improvement programs at FKG UI. In this field, he will invite adjunct professors, carry out joint research programs, form research downstream support units, and carry out penta helix cooperation in providing supporting teaching facilities. “This penta helix collaboration is important because FKG UI wants to act not only as a consumer, but also as a producer so that it can play an active role in establishing a science techno park and can generate good industrial income for UI,” he explained.
Selain program pengembangan infrastruktur digital dan riset, pilar utama lain dalam visinya adalah pembentukan UKK (Unit Kerja Khusus) Holding UI sebagai wadah untuk menampung berbagai kegiatan unit bisnis yang dimungkinkan. Berbagai kegiatan nantinya dapat dilakukan oleh UKK ini, seperti pelatihan keperawatan gigi, management practice, edukasi gigi berkelanjutan, dan pelatihan laboran gigi. Keberadaan unit ini dapat meningkatkan pendapatan, sehingga FKG UI dapat lebih mandiri dari sisi finansial. Nia Ayu Ismaniati lahir di Jakarta, 12 Januari 1963. Ia menamatkan pendidikan dokter giginya di FKG UI pada tahun 1986, kemudian melanjutkan jenjang pendidikannya di University of Melbourne dengan beasiswa dari AusAID dan mendapatkan gelar Master of Dental Science. Pada tahun 2001 ia menamatkan studi spesialis orthodonti di FKG UI. Ia mendapatkan gelar doktor pada tahun 2016 dengan predikat cumlaude hanya dalam waktu tiga tahun.

This dissertation has been published in the Orthodontics and Craniofacial Research Journal, a leading research journal in the field of orthodontics. Nia also actively participates in various scientific forums including as one of the speakers at the 6th Congress of the Indonesian Association of Orthodontists and the scientific meeting of the Indonesian Orthodontist Association in 2005.
