FIB UI Students Win Best Delegate and Best Position Paper Category at Asia Youth International MUN Academy 2022

Raihan Ronny Wazier, a student of the Arabic Literature Study Program, Faculty of Humanity and Cultural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) won two awards as Best Delegate and Best Position Paper at the Asia Youth International Model United Nations Academy 2022 (AYIMUNAC 22) event in Bali . “This achievement is very special for me because this event is my fifth MUN and finally I was able to get the title of Best Delegate,” said Ronny, a sixth semester student, who actively participates in various diplomacy-themed competitions, both at national and international levels.

The AYIMUNAC 22 competition was held on 18-21 February 2022. Ronny participated in the competition in the committee sessions on 19 February 2022, and won awards for Best Delegate and Best Position Paper. He was placed as a representative of the German state for the committee of The United Nations World Tourism Organization. During the conference, he was noted to be quite active by giving opening speeches, submitting many motions for debate, leading all delegates in unmoderated caucus sessions, and leading the preparation of draft resolutions.

The Dean of Faculty of Humanity Universitas Indonesia, Dr. Bondan Kanumoyoso, M. Hum. said that this achievement showed that the Covid-19 pandemic did not prevent students from continuing to excel. “This hard work and unyielding spirit need to be followed by Faculty of Humanity Universitas Indonesia students and of course the FIB UI academic community will support as much as possible so that students can continue to work, excel, and contribute to institutions, society, and the nation,” said Bondan.

Ronny revealed that, “AYIMUN is one of the most prestigious MUN competitions in Indonesia and the world. This year is my third time competing in this competition.” Prior to participating in the AYIMUNAC 22 competition, Ronny had several experiences in the world of diplomacy competitions.

He has participated in several other MUN competitions and won several awards, such as the Honorable Mention Award and the Verbal Commendation Award in 2021. He has also been chairman of the ASEAN Virtual Model for youth 2021. These experiences have encouraged Ronny to keep trying to join the MUN event again. until he managed to achieve a proud achievement.

Ronny’s love for the world of diplomacy was inspired by his brother, the 2020 Faculty of Humanity Universitas Indonesia UI Major Achievement Student who is also active in diplomatic activities. “My older brother, Rafi Ronny, is the Main Mapres Faculty of Humanity Universitas Indonesia UI 2020. He actively participates in activities with the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His various achievements are a motivation for me to bring the name of Indonesia and UI at the international level,” he said. The awards that Ronny has won in various MUN competitions are clear evidence of his hard work and efforts in competing even though he has to fall back and forth.
