Depok, June 9th 2023. Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Indonesia (FISIP UI) through the UI FISIP Dance Community (KTF) Radha Sarisha is ready to carry out a cultural mission at the International Folklore Festivals “Du Sud” Tour which will be held in France and Spain, in July–August 2023. Before leaving as a contingent for the festival, KTF UI Radha Sarisha held a 2023 Cultural Mission Farewell Event which was held at the Jakarta Art Building, last Tuesday (30/5).

At the event entitled “Taste of Indonesia”, KTF UI Radha Sarisha presented a performance entitled “Larung” in the form of sendratari (a combination of art, drama and dance) which would later be performed during cultural missions in France and Spain. Larung tells about Pramadana’s journey in the archipelago to find his mother. The “mother” he is looking for is not tied to one particular concept, but something he loves to care for, look after, accompany, as well as inspire him.

The performance was performed by 34 members divided into 4 teams of dancers and 1 team of musicians. The entire team performed six dances, namely the Rampak Gendang Dance from West Java, the Kembheng Malate Dance from Madura, the Taruni Dance from East Java, the Pia Baine Dance from Tana Toraja, the Coga Dance from West Sumatra, and the Mambri Dance from Papua.

Dean of FISIP UI, Prof. Dr. Semiarto Aji Purwanto, fully supports KTF UI Radha Sarisha to participate in the International Folklore Festivals “Du Sud” Tour 2023. “This art activity is a student activity that should be appreciated because it encourages students to be productive and happy to come to campus. Aside from being a place of learning, the campus is also a place to actualize talents and interests outside of academic activities,” said Prof. Aji.

KTF UI Radha Sarisha is a community of FISIP UI students built to develop students’ interests and talents in dance, both traditional and modern, as well as music. After being founded in 2008, KTF UI Radha Sarisha has achieved many achievements, starting from the production of shows, competitions, and cultural missions.
