The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) University of Indonesia held the 2019 APRiSH activity for 3 (three) days from 13-15 August 2019 at JS Luwansa Hotel, Jakarta. This activity is the organizing for the fourth time.

This annual event raised the theme of the Network Society: Continuity and Change, and was attended by around 350 papers and 11 participants from abroad. This event is a place to share knowledge and research experience on the world community that is undergoing transformation due to the development of information and communication technology, including the experience of digital economy business people.

The keynote speaker at APRiSH, namely a prominent academic from Spain, Prof. Manuel Castells. Castells is a sociologist, researcher and author of books on issues related to network society, communication, and globalization as well as lecturers at the Open University of Catalonia, Spain. Another key speaker was the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Rudiantara.

In addition to the keynote speakers, the APRiSH international conference also invited speakers from various other social humanities disciplines, namely:

  • Jan A.G.M. van Dijk (Sociology & Communication Science, University of Twente Belanda)
  • Andrew Mitchell (Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne Australia)
  • Abidin Kusno (Institute of Asian Research and Director of the Centre for Southeast Asia, University of British Columbia Kanada)
  • Roby Muhamad, PhD (Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Indonesia)
  • Dina Wahyuni (Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance, Swinburne Business School Australia)
  • Huck-ju Kwon (Department of Social Policy and Intervention, Seoul National University Korea Selatan)
  • Ian O. Wiliamson (Faculty of Commerce, Victoria University of Wellington Selandia Baru)

In addition to speakers from academics, the conference also held a special session for industry players. In line with the theme of network society, this session was filled by speakers from digital economy players in the country, namely Gojek, Bhinneka, and Twitter Indonesia. Industrial sessions are a place to share experiences and success stories and current issues based on network collaboration, both between businesses and other stakeholders, including universities.
