The Faculty of Public Health (FKM) at Universitas Indonesia (UI) recorded a proud achievement for WSO Professional Concerned Award from the World Safety Organization (WSO) based in Las Vegas, the United States. The award was given to Professor of the Department of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) of FKM UI Prof. Dra. Fatma Lestari, M.Si, Ph.D.
On the same occasion, there were three Indonesian representatives who received the world OHS award from WSO, namely PT Nusantara Regas which won the WSO Concerned Company Award, PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk-EPC Division received the WSO Concerned Company Award, and Politeknik Ketenagakerjaan received the WSO Educational Concerned Award from WSO.
The award received at the ‘WSO Indonesia Talkshow & Award (WITA) 2021’ event on Thursday, 21 October 2021 was given to companies/individuals/institutions that are committed to implementing OHS. Prof. Fatma Lestari was one of the individuals who received this award from Indonesia in 2021.
Dean of FKM UI Prof. Sabarinah also appreciated the achievements made by UI for Indonesia.
Winners of this award were determined based on the results of verification/field testing and the results of administrative verification through survey activities or in-depth observations. The winners are considered to have shown commitment and consistency in implementing OHS, and some have even shown a process towards continuous improvement.
WSO Indonesia Talkshow & Award (WITA) 2021 is an event that can become a benchmark for companies in improving the implementation of occupational health and safety in the workplace, starting from policies, implementation to monitoring and evaluation that are holistic, comprehensive, and sustainable. Meanwhile, the organizer, World Safety Organization (WSO), was founded in 1975 as a result of an international conference organized by Safety Organization of the Philippines Inc. (SOPI), in Manila, the Philippines.
WSO was founded with the aim of internationalizing all fields of safety including occupational health, safety, and environment, the accident prevention movement, and others, as well as with the aim of spreading the practice, skill, art, and technology of safety and accident prevention worldwide.
