In an effort to support national research and the herbal industry, Arry Yanuar plans to establish a National Biomarker Center. He will also develop bioanalysis services for biological products and halal products at the Daewoong-UI Bioanalysis Laboratory. In addition, innovative cosmetic products will also be developed through pilot-scale small businesses. Product innovation from the Faculty of Pharmacy (FF) Universitas Indonesia (UI), said Arry, will be introduced to the industrial world through a roadshow and will be offered in the form of method development services, formulas or analysis services.

All of these things were conveyed by Ari Yanuar during the assessment of UI dean candidates by the UI Rector, the University Secretary, and UI Vice Chancellors, on Friday, November 19, 2021. The presentation delivered by Arry Yanuar led him to be elected Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy for the 2022 – 2026 period. He outdid two other candidates, namely Amarila Malik and Fajar Prasetya. Arry Yanuar was born in Jakarta on January 7, 1965. He completed the Bachelor of Pharmacy program at the Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in 1990. Then he continued the Pharmacist Profession program at the same place and graduated in 1991. In 1997, he then earned a Masters degree in pharmaceutical chemistry at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Gadjah Mada.

He completed his Doctoral Program within three years, from October 2003 to September 2006, at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. In the period 1999-2003, he worked as a pharmaceutical expert in ISO 9000 certification at Lloyd Register Quality Assurance.
With the tagline “Towards an Entrepreneurial University Ecosystem”, Arry will take strategic steps in eight areas, namely institutional and governance, education, research and innovation, human resource development, infrastructure development, strengthening cooperation, strengthening alumni, and the field finance and ventures.
Institutional strengthening is sought by establishing Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) and Pharmaceutical Care (PC) departments to cover tridharma activities of higher education. PS will have a vision of developing research and innovation in various pharmaceutical products, while the PC department will have a vision of being the driving force for inter-professional education programs in the health sciences cluster at UI. Another mission of PC is to produce health workers who can meet the needs of human resources in Universitas Indonesia Hospital and produce clinical disease specialist pharmacists.
In the field of education, Arry will open a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist which will be strengthened by the existence of a postgraduate program in Clinical Pharmacy. It will be followed by the opening of the Industrial Pharmacy specialization program as well as Social Pharmacy and Policy. Especially for Masters students, he plans to organize industrial internship programs abroad. Collaboration will be carried out in the teaching industries program with Indonesian modern drug industry organizations such as Dexa Laboratories of Biomolecular Sciences for the Herbal Pharmacy postgraduate programs.
For the field of facilities and infrastructure, Arry will carry out the construction of the Pharmacy Building. As a form of support for UI’s vision as an entrepreneurial university, Arry will encourage students at FFUI to form start-ups that will be supported by the faculty by providing training, as well as opening the door for mentoring with alumni. “Herb products from UI academic community will also be encouraged to be sold to the public immediately after obtaining a distribution permit from the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM),” he said.
