INDONESIA LEADERSHIP FORUM 2023: THE EXECUTIVE TRAINING FROM UI INVITED SPEAKERS FROM GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, SOEs, AND CORPORATES

Universitas Indonesia (UI) observes that so far there have been various training programs for local leaders provided by leading universities in the world, such as in America, England, Europe, and Asia. This training for executives is a reference for leadership training in Indonesia. Through a special work unit at UI, PT Daya Makara, UI Leadership Development Center (UI LDC) opens executive training programs for leaders in Indonesia. On March 9-10, 2023 at the Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resorts Hotel, UI LDC will launch the Indonesia Leadership Forum 2023 (ILF 2023).

This year, ILF 2023 has the theme “Leading through Global Turbulence”, and the sub-theme “It’s Indonesia’s Time”, presenting selected speakers from government agencies, State-owned Enterprises (SOEs), and corporations. The event will be opened by UI Rector Prof. Ari Kuncoro.

On the first day, the keynote speaker was Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara. The Deputy Minister of SOEs Kartika Wirjoatmodjo will also be present to provide views on “The Future of Leadership” on the first day. Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) Mahendra Siregar will be the keynote speaker on the second day.

The speakers will share their experiences and views on what and how leadership deals with different times of transformation and global challenges according to the demands of the times. Other leaders who participated as speakers representing the Ministry of the Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform and state-owned companies are PT Kereta Api Indonesia, Pertamina, PT PLN, Bank Indonesia, national banks, foreign banks, health companies, and mines.

Vice Chancellor for Human Resources and Assets Prof. Dr. Ir. Dedi Priadi, DEA said that UI had long planned to establish a non-degree training institution specifically for leaders in all fields and sectors to expand insight, bolster knowledge, discuss, as well as exchange and share leadership experiences with fellow leaders. “So far, the government, institutions, companies, and universities have sent leaders and candidates who will occupy executive positions to study abroad,” he said.

“Now, we are ready with programs that will support leaders to be better in the future, in terms of ability, mindset, and knowledge of leadership,” said Prof. Dedi. He continued, as a university, UI has complete resources in all fields (from 14 faculties, 1 vocational school, and 2 strategic schools) with adequate and developing research results, academics, alumni, associations, and partners that all of those can be utilized for the development of knowledge and leadership practices.

“We hope we can support Indonesia in moving forward towards Golden Indonesia by providing added value to leaders to become more competent, broad-minded, and ready to face global challenges,” said Prof. Dedi.

T.M. Zakir Sjakur Machmud., M.Ec., Ph.D. as Director of Management and Development of Business Units (DPPU) said, “The challenge for higher education now is how to develop its business units so that they can support broader education and at the same time be able to support university operations.”

Director of PT Daya Makara—Special Business Unit for UI—Fakhrudin, said, “In the midst of global competition challenges, UI must provide extensive education and training options for leaders in government, institutions, SOEs, regional-owned enterprises, private sector, and even universities.” ILF Project Director Frits Sojoedi invited the media to support leadership training programs by becoming media partners who can share leadership case study data. “The world is looking at Indonesia because of Indonesia’s ability to survive in this challenging time. Thus, instead of looking for what is outside of Indonesia, let’s take advantage and develop what is already in Indonesia. ILF will become our annual event, which will be followed by training programs such as Leading at the Top, Directorship Programs, Digital Leadership Programs, Strategic Execution and People Mastery to become the options for leaders in Indonesia,” he said.
