Among the five cum laude graduates of the Undergraduate Program, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia (FM UI), Muhammad Kevin Ardian is the graduate with the highest GPA of 3.82. Kevin successfully completed his Bachelor of Medicine education and attended the 2021/2022 UI Graduation Ceremony which was held at Balairung UI, on Saturday (10/09).

Apart from being the graduate with the highest GPA, Kevin also has a series of achievements during his time as a FM UI student, including 3rd Place National Essay Competition Mulawarman Medical Fair 2020 (Scientific Essay Branch), Finalist of Selection of Outstanding Students FM UI 2021 (Activist Category), and The Most Sciencetific University in AMSA-Indonesia Awards 2022 (AMSA-UI).

Kevin said that one of the keys to being an outstanding student and becoming the best graduate is to always try to do things as much as possible and have a target in completing the assigned tasks. He added that the key is to be consistent in doing things to the fullest.

Furthermore, Kevin said that one of the challenges of being an outstanding student is about accepting rejection and how to get back up. As he shared, Kevin said, “When I first applied to become a member of the Asian Medical Students’ Association Universitas Indonesia (AMSA-UI), I was eliminated as a prospective member. However, with strong determination I tried to appeal and show that I had the capability to become a member. I proved it during the three years of AMSA-UI’s management by getting ‘The Most Scientific University’ in a row,” said Kevin.

As Vice Manager of Academic Divisions, Manager of Academic Division, and Advisory Board of AMSA-UI, Kevin also has the opportunity to represent AMSA-UI and Indonesia at national and international events such as the Asian Medical Students’ Conference in London, UK (2021) and won 1st place in the Scientific Poster competition which was attended by participants from 40 countries. In addition, Kevin also participated in internships at teaching hospitals in Singapore (2019), the Netherlands (2021), and Thailand (2022).

For Kevin, the biggest motivation for his achievements was the support of his parents and sister. Apart from family, lecturers have a big role for Kevin, because the knowledge gained from books will be difficult to apply without the knowledge of its application in everyday life, as has been provided by lecturers during his education to date.

Kevin hopes that he can consistently learn to achieve what he wants, remain trustworthy in carrying out the tasks assigned, remain honest in doing an activity, and become a useful person for Indonesia and the world.
