The Faculty of Computer Sciences (Fasilkom) of Universitas Indonesia (UI), as one of the best educational and research institutions in the field of computer science, held a series of international conferences in the field of computer sciences and the largest information systems in Indonesia, namely “The 13th International Conference on Advanced Computer Science and Information Systems (ICACSIS)”, and “The 6th International Workshop on Big Data and Information Security (IWBIS)”. This conference was attended by scientists, researchers, professionals, and experts from within and outside the country,. It was held online and was part of a series of events commemorating the 35th Anniversary of Fasilkom UI.

Prof. Ari Kuncoro, Ph.D, as UI Rector welcomed the presence of speakers and participants virtually, saying, “Fasilkom UI is one of the most important parts of UI as a pioneer in research in the field of computer sciences and information systems. Through organizing this conference, UI hopes to establish collaboration and communication between experts and researchers regarding technological developments.” The ICACSIS and IWBIS conferences were held on October 23-26, 2021. It was attended by more than 500 participants from various countries, such as Malaysia, India, Taiwan, Japan, France, Italy, the United States, and Indonesia. Since it was first held, all scientific papers presented at ICACSIS and IWBIS have been published in prosiding indexed by IEEE Xplore and Scopus, which are among the library database entities known by world researchers.

These two conferences were also supported by Universitas Pertahanan (host ICACSIS and IWBIS), Politeknik Siber, Sandi Negara (co-host IWBIS), and IEEE Indonesia Section (technical co-sponsored). Previously, ICACSIS and IWBIS managed to screen hundreds of research papers (research papers) from 17 countries and were submitted in the selection process with 85 papers of which successfully passed and were entitled to be presented at the parallel sessions of ICACSIS 2021 and IWBIS 2021. The authors of the research papers came from different countries, namely Indonesia, the Philippines, United States, Sweden, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, India, Morocco, Pakistan, Algeria, Sri Lanka, Norway, Japan, and Venezuela.

General Chair of IWBIS as well as Coordinator of Computer Science Masters and Doctoral Program of Fasilkom UI Harry Budi Santoso, Ph.D. said that this year the ICACSIS and IWBIS were being held in parallel with “The 5th Indonesia International Defense Science Seminar (IIDSS) 2021” (25 October 2021) with four group discussion rooms discussing the topics of defense technology, cybersecurity, and communication information technology in the health sector (medical data and telehealth issues in Indonesia) with the Universitas Pertahanan as well as panelists and speakers including from Fasilkom UI namely; Prof. Dr. Eko K. Budiardjo, Prof. Dana Indra Sensuse, Ph.D., Prof. Dr. Eng. Wisnu Jatmiko; and Setiyadi Yazid, Ph.D.

“Along with scientific conference activities, workshops and tutorials in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) were also held by providing an introduction to deep learning theory and case studies using the Python programming language (October 26, 2021). The AI workshop and tutorial was delivered by Prof. Dr. Eng. Wisnu Jatmiko and Dr. Ario Yudo Husodo,” said Co-director of Tokopedia-UI AI Center of Excellence Adila Alfa Krisnadhi, Ph.D, who is also General Chair of ICACSIS. Distinguished figures who attended the

plenary speech session were the Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency who was represented by Dr. Mego Pinandito (Plt. Deputy for Utilization of Research and Innovation); a scientist from Hiroshima University, who research artificial intelligence in the field of education, Prof. Tsukasa Hirashima; Prof. Subhas Mukhopadhyay from Macquarie University Australia, who is an authority in the field of sensing technology; Prof. Simon See, the Director of Nvidia AI Technology Center Solution Architecture and Engineering and the Chief Solution Architect at Nvidia AI Technology Center; Prof. Alistair Moffat, a scientist in the field of information search and retrieval with an h-index of 58 from the University of Melbourne, Australia; and Prof. Taku Komura, a computer graphics and robotics scientist from Edinburgh University, UK.
