Promoting the “Getting Better” Concept, Agus Setiawan was Elected as Dean of FIK UI 2022-2026

Agus Setiawan was elected as the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing (FIK UI) for the 2022 – 2026 period, after going through the dean selection assessment process on Tuesday (16/11). Agus excelled from the other four candidates, namely Sri Yona Ph.D., Dr. Sigit Mulyono, Agung Waluyo Ph.D., and Dr. Mira. With the tagline “FIK UI Getting Better, Becoming a Center for Excellence in Nursing Education in Southeast Asia”, Agus said that the tagline was aimed at responding to UI’s transformation into a modern university, towards an Entrepreneurial University. He explained that the word Makin is an extension of the Spirit of Sustainability, continuing good achievements. Then, the word slick literally means getting better/better. “However, ‘Apik’ stands for adaptive, progressive, inclusive, open, and entrepreneurial,” he said. According to him, as part of UI, of course FIK must follow the direction of UI development where the focus of its development according to the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan is to excel in Southeast Asia, at least to be ranked in the top five. Agus explained FIK UI’s achievements in various fields over the last four years. In the field of education, FIK UI is able to maintain the best accreditation at the national level for all (nine) FIK study programs from the undergraduate level to the doctoral program; in 2018 accredited by AUN; ISO certified; and until now there are 10 teaching subjects in the form

Massive Open Online Course (MOOC); develop specialist oncology & gerontics study programs; and inbound & outbond student that goes on. In the field of research and publication, the FIK UI journal has been indexed by Scopus; in the last three years FIK UI HR added three Professors with details of eight permanent Professors where there was an increase while he was Dean of FIK UI, namely the ratio of lecturers with doctoral degrees was 51%.

 

In this non-academic field, FIK UI continues to pursue faculty performance with an average target of 100%; stakeholder satisfaction reaches 85%; and others. According to Agus, FIK UI needs to be self-aware because its competitors are moving so fast, so he proposed a vision of making FIK UI a center for the development of superior and competitive nursing science and technology in Southeast Asia.

Excellent indicators include AHPGS international accreditation, ranking by subject can enter the world’s top 300, WHO collaborating centre the first in Indonesia, developing MOOCs and international students, increasing doctoral and professorial human resources, developing international cooperation sigma theta tau international: Indonesian Chapterand developing Nursing Training Center as the Nursing Enterprise. Of the seven FIK UI superior indicators proposed by Agus, he tried to put them forward quick win programs with five pillars, which are to develop excellent teaching and learning; impactful research and enhanced international engagement; effective, harmonious and accountable faculty governance; qualified faculty and staffs; and develop nursing enterprise through the promotion of the Nursing Training Center Special Work Unit.

 

Agus Setiawan is the Dean of FIK UI for the 2018-2021 period. He completed his undergraduate studies at FIK UI in 1999, then in 2006 he earned a master’s degree from the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. From the same university, she earned her doctorate in 2014. She is a community health nurse specializing in community-based interventions, child health, access to health care, human resources for health, and health inequalities. His expertise includes mentoring modules and health workers, curriculum development, research proposal development, operational research, and qualitative research. So far, Agus has published a number of papers in both national and international journals. One of his most recent publications is entitled “Anxiety and Suicidal Thoughts During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Cross-Country Comparative Study Among Indonesian, Taiwanese, and Thai University Students” published in 2020.
