KOMPAS.com – Susilo Bambang Yodhoyono (SBY)’s Twitter thread attracted public attention after admitting that he dreamed of boarding the same train with the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri and President Joko Widodo (Jokowi). SBY’s dream was told through his Twitter page, @SBYudhoyono, Monday (19/6/2023). “I had a dream, one day Mr. Jokowi came to my house in Cikeas and then together, we went to pick up Mrs. Megawati at her residence. Then the three of us headed to Gambir Station. *SBY*,” wrote SBY.
In that dream, SBY admitted to taking the Gajayana train together with Megawati and Jokowi. He and Jokowi got off in Solo and continued on to Pacitan. Meanwhile Megawati continued her trip to Blitar for a pilgrimage to the grave of the first President of Indonesia, Soekarno.
Interestingly, SBY’s dream was told the day after PDI-P DPP Chairperson Puan Maharani and Democrat Party Chairperson Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) met. So, what is the meaning of SBY’s dream conveyed in the thread?
Political observer from the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Cecep Hidayat said SBY’s dream was a metaphor conveyed by SBY. “Pak SBY is giving a metaphor here, how he met Jokowi and went to Megawati and got on the train together,” Cecep said when contacted by Kompas.com, Tuesday (20/6/2023).
Furthermore, when SBY and Jokowi got off in Solo and continued to Pacitan by bus, according to Cecep this could be an illustration of how SBY could be open to building a coalition with the PDI-P. On the other hand, Cecep also said that Ganjar had not yet announced the vice presidential candidate to accompany him
Meanwhile, Puan has just announced 10 names for Ganjar’s vice presidential candidates, which include AHY. “SBY opened himself up even though on several previous occasions the two parties were contradictory,” said Cecep.
Nevertheless, Cecep also revealed that SBY’s dream could also be a message addressed to two groups, namely related to the vice presidential candidate for Anies or vice presidential candidate for Ganjar.
“In the coalition with Nasdem, PKS, and the Democrat Party, Anies hasn’t yet announced his vice presidential candidate. According to the circulating news, they are hinting at AHY. On the other hand, they still want a candidate that complements Anies, namely the NU group,” said Cecep.
Cecep suspected that there is a possibility that if AHY is not chosen as Anies’ vice presidential candidate, then SBY will respond to the meeting with Puan the other day.
Was SBY’s dream a sign of a coalition?
Democrat Party Upper House member Syarief Hasan revealed the meaning of SBY’s dream is a hope for the future.
According to him, SBY’s dream showed that the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia wanted to communicate with Jokowi and Megawati.
Even so, Syarief was not sure when the dream occurred.
“He had a dream that one day three former presidents could meet and pick up the 8th president. Therefore, the election went smoothly, and the communication from the former president was good. The country is also alright,” he explained, quoted from Kompas.com, Tuesday (20/5/2023).
But Syarief was also reluctant to assume that SBY’s dream was a signal that the Democrats would form a coalition with the PDI-P in the upcoming presidential election.
“It means to be together, not in coalition. The word ‘together’ has a broad meaning,” he added.
Furthermore, Syarief said, communication between SBY and Megawati was actually still ongoing. The two of them often greet each other when they meet at official state events.
