Universitas Indonesia (UI) successfully got into the 800 world’s best universities for the first time and became the only Indonesia representative in an England media version, Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2015—2016, in its 12th edition that has been released on Wednesday, September 9th 2015. Indonesia got into the list together with another 799 universities from 70 countries. UI got on 601st place from 800 the world’s best universities.

Other than Indonesia, there are 29 new countries that successfully got into the THE list. Among others are Malaysia, Ghana, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Latvia, Oman, Qatar and Ukraine. THE World University Rankings is one of prestigious international rank for world universities that is done by the most influential international journal in universities world.

The ranking method is based on research indicator that is done by the university academicians. Five indicators that is used by THE are 30% from learning activites, 30% from amount and reputation, 30% from of research citation, 7,5% from international scope on staffs, students and research, and 2,5% from industrial partnership.

This achievement hopefully could stimulate the education and research quality improvement. UI continuously commits to be a World Class Research University that able to generate useful work for Indonesian society and generate productive researchers, educators, experts and graduates who are able to develop their own nation.
