1443663087448UI Nayaka 3.0 Team successfully got predicate of ‘car with the most accurate distance’. This achievement brought UI to runner up position in Chem-E-Car competition that was held in Melbourne, Australia on September 30th 2015.

Chem-E-Car Competition is a car design competition by using chemical reaction as its motor to reach certain distance. The competition was held along with Asian Pacific Confederation of Chemical Engineering (APCChE) 2015. Chem-E-Car 2015 Melbourne Competition was participated by 13 teams from 5 countries, that were Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia, Iraq and New Zealand. Indonesian team that were participated were UI, ITS, UGM, and Universitas Brawijaya. UI Nayaka team member consisted of Zulfikar Ali Akbar, Farandy Haris, Uswatun Nur Khazanah, and Silvia Adinda.

In this competition, Nayaka Team’s car showed no error within 10 meters distance while carrying 200ml water. The car stopped right at 10 meters distance. This thing became the team’s proud since UI was the only team who successfully reach exactly 10 meters.

“Our Nayaka car leads on the powerful energy aspect and it can be easily controlled so when it was challenged to reach 10 meters with 200 ml water load, our car could did it with 0% error as determined target. Of course, we are so proud because Nayaka became the only finalist car that could make it. Besides that, energy that we used also has ‘clean and safe to environment’ concept because we use reaction product oxygen as the motor. In terms of mechanic, our car’s concept was pneumatic cylinder piston for managing oxygen flow that is produced so that oxygen that is used relatively more efficient,” said Silvia Adinda.

The main reaction that was used by Nayaka car is the combination between hydrogen peroxide and kalium permanganate that produced oxygen. The two materials are cheap and easy to obtain so the car operational is not too expensive. “In the future, we will keep developing our car prototype so that it is capable to compete in national or international competition,” added Adinda.
