Another recognition from a global ranking agency was given to Universitas Indonesia (UI).
UI ranks first as the Best Universities in Indonesia, based on an assessment conducted by the global higher education ranking agency U.S. News Best Global Universities 2022.
U.S. News & World Report Best Global Universities was created to provide insight into how universities compare globally.
Since an increasing number of prospective students plan to enroll outside of their home countries, the Best Global Universities Rankings – which focus on academic research and university reputation – can help prospective students accurately compare institutions around the world.
The US News ranking also places UI 15th in Southeast Asia, and 217th in Asia.
The U.S. News rankings include institutions in the United States and more than 80 other countries and are announced on the official website https://www.usnews.com/ education/best-global-universities/rankings.
The ranking includes 13 indicators that form the basis for measuring the academic research performance and global and regional reputation of each institution.
In addition, the US News ranking also includes indicators of international collaboration, conferences, and total citations.
Details of the indicators that measure UI’s performance in the ranking are
Global score (42.4%), Global research reputation (12.5%), Regional research reputation (12.5%), Publications (10%), Books (2.5%), Conferences (2.5%), Normalized citation impact (10%), Total citations (7.5%), Number of publications that are among the 10% most cited (12.5%), Percentage of total publications that are among the 10% most cited (10%), International collaboration – relative to country (5%), Number of highly cited papers that are among the top 1% most cited in their respective field (5%), and Percentage of highly cited papers that are among the top 1% most cited papers (5%).
In one of the subject areas, Clinical Medicine, UI is the only Clinical Medicine subject in Indonesia that made it to the US News Best Global Universities by Subject.
UI is ranked 10th in Southeast Asia, and 389th in the world as Best Universities for Clinical Medicine.
UI Rector Prof. Ari Kuncoro is grateful for the achievements made by UI during 2021.
He thanked all elements at UI who had worked hard and contributed to the ranking.
“Hopefully UI will be able to improve its performance to the maximum, so that it remains the best in the country. Synergy and contribution are needed from the academic community as a continuous effort to improve UI’s ranking at the global level,” he said.
