Faculty of Engineering (FT) Universitas Indonesia (UI) has two new study programs for new student admissions in 2024 for the International Class Bachelor’s education, namely Computer Engineering and Environmental Engineering. Currently, FT UI provides 11 International Class study programs for new UI students in 2024/2025 academic year.

Dean of FT UI, Prof. Dr. Ir. Heri Hermansyah, S.T., M.Eng., IPU., said that the opening of the International Computer Engineering and Environmental Engineering study program showed FT UI’s commitment to improving the quality of education and offering international standard learning experiences. With a focus on an ever-evolving curriculum, global collaboration, and an emphasis on technological innovation, the two study programs will not only strengthen FT UI’s reputation as an excellent educational institution but also get wider international recognition for our alumni in the industrial and academic worlds globally,” said Prof. Heri.

The Computer Engineering and Environmental Engineering study program has been open since 2006 for Regular Undergraduate program and has been accredited as Superior from LAM Engineering. These two study programs also have international accreditation from The Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE). The Computer Engineering Study Program is a discipline that combines knowledge and competence regarding hardware, software, and other digital electronic devices and network connectivity related to computer systems engineering and cyber security.

Head of the Computer Engineering Study Program, Dr. lr. Muhammad Salman, S.T., M.I.T., expressed his hopes. “Graduates of the International Computer Engineering Class study program are expected to design information networks and computer-based systems systematically in accordance with professional ethics. Many graduates of the Computer Engineering study program are now developing careers as embedded systems/IoT engineers, AI and application developers, big data analysts, and network engineers, including those related to cybersecurity,” said Dr. Muhammad Salman.

Meanwhile, the Environmental Engineering study program emphasizes the engineering field through an Environmental Engineering discipline approach, which covers engineering aspects at planning, design, construction implementation, and facilities/infrastructure management stages. Mastery of Environmental Engineering is an important aspect in planning and implementing environmentally sound construction to support sustainable development.

“The global shift towards a circular economic system from a linear economic model has resulted in a significant transformation in the employment structure, where it is estimated that jobs in the Renewable Energy and Waste Management sectors will increase by up to 70% by 2030, rapid growth compared to other sectors. To face those challenges, we prepared this study program with the support of experienced lecturers, adequate environmental laboratory facilities, and reliable IT infrastructure,” said Dr. Cindy Rianti Priadi, S.T., M.Sc., Head of the FTUI Environmental Engineering Study Program.

Since 1999, FT UI has been holding a Joint/Double Degree International Class Undergraduate Program. This program provides an opportunity for FT UI students to get high-quality education at the best engineering campuses in Indonesia and abroad. Then, in 2011, FT UI expanded its international education by opening a Single Degree program, where students can study at overseas partner universities for at least one semester and graduate with a bachelor’s degree from UI.

This year, the FT UI Joint Degree partnership with Monash University was opened for Computer Engineering and Environmental Engineering with a 2+2 year scheme. Head of the FT UI International Office, Fadhilah Muslim S.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., DIC., said that students will study for two years at FT UI and two years at Monash University. Later, students in this joint degree program will receive two undergraduate degrees from UI and Monash University. The age limit for applicants for international class programs is five years after graduating from high school and using English as the medium of study in class.

Monash University also provides scholarships to FT UI students. The scholarship is awarded as tuition fee reduction of AUD $20,000 for a student’s first two years of study at Monash University. This scholarship includes accommodation for FT UI students to access academic and professional experiences internationally.

The two new study programs complement the nine international class undergraduate study programs that previously existed, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Marine Engineering, and Bioprocess Engineering Study Program.

To register for the international class program, you can take the Talent Scouting or the written test SIMAK UI KI. The Talent Scouting selection will open on 28 February – 22 March 2024, while the SIMAK UI KI will open on 19 June – 3 July 2024, and the test will be on 8 July. Further information can be accessed at www.eng.ui.ac.id, www.international.eng.ui.ac.id, and the SIMAK UI website (https://simak.ui.ac.id). Registration can be done via http://penerimaan.ui.ac.id.
