Three students from the Physiotherapy study program, Vocational Education Program, Universitas Indonesia (UI), consisting of Fatiya Nur Jihan, Helena Grathia Julianti Sianturi, and Anindya Maharani Rizki Nityasari, managed to win third place in the 2023 Physiotherapy Day Quiz Competition organized by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Physiotherapy, Esa Unggul University, which carries the theme “Musculo-Sport: Building and Strengthening the Body and the Soul”.

After successfully competing with eight teams or a total of 24 participants, Fatiya, as the Team Leader of the UI Vocational Program Physiotherapy Team, said that there were challenges faced when preparing for the competition. According to her, the material regarding sports health in the competition was comprehensive. “To overcome this, we tried to consult with Mr. Riza Pahlawi, Str.Ftr., M.Kes., one of our lecturers in the Physiotherapy study program who focuses on sports health. From there, we get different points of views regarding the material that needs to be focused on and developed,” said Fatiya.

She added that their aim in taking part in the competition, which was held on Tuesday (26/9), was to gain experience in the health sector that suits their future profession, namely physiotherapist. This can be used as resource for them to increase their achievements and gain more knowledge.

This competition is divided into three rounds, namely round 1 of multiple choice questions; round 2 of true-false questions; and round 3 of essay questions. In the first round, Fatiya and the team managed to answer 38 questions correctly out of 50 questions asked. Afterward, they continued to the next round, namely the true-false question round. Of the 20 questions asked, Fatiya and the team managed to answer 15 questions correctly. All correct answers from both rounds are then accumulated and the three teams with the most correct answers are selected.

Interestingly, when accumulating the final score, there were two teams with a draw, including Fatiya and team. The jury then asked a competing question which was won by Fatiya and the team. They advanced to the final round along with two other teams. In this final round, the three teams that entered the final round were given one essay question which had to be discussed for 10 minutes. In this relatively short time, the entire team is required to be able to determine the diagnosis, pathology (acute/subacute/chronic), determine the goals of therapy, and determine the type of therapy that can be given for this condition.

Director of the UI Vocational Education Program, Padang Wicaksono, S.E., Ph.D, appreciated the achievements done by Fatiya, Helena, and Anin. He said, “I am proud of the achievements made by the students. I hope that this competitive experience can be used as a provision for them for the next competition and help deepen their health knowledge, especially in the field of physiotherapy, so that they can apply it when they enter the world of work.”
