The winners of the 2023 National Unmanned Fast Boat Contest (Kontes Kapal Cepat Tak Berawak Nasional–KKCTBN) organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek)—through the National Achievement Center (Puspresnas) and the Indonesian Talent Development Center (BPTI)—were announced on Wednesday (25/10), at Purnomo Prawiro Hall, UI Depok Campus. The competition final, which took place on 23rd–25th of October 2023, was attended by 88 teams from 31 universities and produced 38 winning teams in 6 competition categories.
Academic Director of Vocational Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture, Dr. Beny Bandanadjaja, S.T., M.T., appreciated UI as the host for the 2023 KKCTBN. “The willingness to host the national talent event is the university’s dedication in trying to realize student character that is in line with the Pancasila student character,” said Dr. Benny.
He said that the implementation of KKCTBN is expected to be a means for students to develop potential and creativity and encourage collaboration within and between universities to apply science and technology that is beneficial to society.
Meanwhile, Plt. Head of Puspresnas, Ir. Hendarman, M.Sc., Ph.D., said that this contest was held as a manifestation of shipping and digital maritime technology innovation to be able to compete with tourism technology in developed countries. “To increase tourist visits to several marine tourism destinations in Indonesia, it needs to be supported by providing facilities in the form of ships or other floating structures with adequate technology. That’s why we are holding KKCTBN,” said Ir. Hendarman.
KKCTBN is a design technology innovation competition, prototyping, and prototype performance in the field of shipping-maritime technology which is participated in by students from all over Indonesia. This year, KKCTBN carries the theme “Strengthening Technological Independence and National Ship Innovation” through six competition categories, namely the Routine and Regulatory Design Tourist Ship Division (DRR), the Innovation and Technology Design Tourism Ship Division (DIT), the Innovation Design Tourism Ship Division and Implementation (DII), Manufacturing and Performance of the Leisure Boat Fuel Engine Remote Control (LBFERC) Tourism Ship Prototype, Autonomous Tourism Surface Vessel (ATSV) Tourism Ship Prototype Manufacturing and Performance, and Leisure Boat Electric Remote Control (LBERC) Tourism Ship Prototype Manufacturing and Performance .
In this competition, four teams from UI won in four categories. The Nagapasa 1 Team won 2nd place in the DRR Tourism Ship Division category. The Nagapasa 2 Team won 1st Place in the DIT Tourism Ship Division category. The UI Autonomous Marine Vehicle (AMV) Team won 1st Place in the ATSV Division category. The Pandawa 1 Team (ERC) won 2nd place in the LBERC Division category.
Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Badrul Munir, S.T., M.Eng.Sc., said that the achievements achieved by UI students were clear evidence of the contribution of the UI academic community in creating innovation in the field of technology. “This competition can grow and train students to be creative, innovative, and productive in terms of creating design innovations and making ship prototypes. KKCTBN can also be a medium for students to contribute to advancing the tourism sector,” said Dr. Badrul.
Apart from UI, other universities in Indonesia were also listed as champions in the 2023 KKCTBN competition. For the DRR Tourism Ship Division category, the champion title was won by the Diponegoro University Nexus-EZ Team (1st Place), the UI Nagapasa 1 Team (2nd Place), the Hasanuddin University Zhinpuru Team (3rd Place), the Cah Bagus Team 8 Team of Shipbuilding Institute of Polytechnic Surabaya (1st Place Winner), and the Selais Indrapura Team, Riau University (2nd Place Winner).
For the DIT Tourism Ship Division category, the champions were won by the ITS DNA Hydromodelling Team (1st Place), the ESTIMATE Team of theElectronic Engineering Polytechnic Institute of Surabaya Team (2nd Place), the Surabaya State University SEA CONQUEROR Team (3rd Place), the Nagapasa 2 UI Team (1st Place Winner ), and Navtech Polibatam Team 2 Batam State Polytechnic Team (2nd Runner Up).
The champions in the DII Tourism Ship Division category were won by the Diponegoro University Niskala-EZ Team (1st Place), the Brawijaya University ISM–BRISHON Team (2nd Place), the Sri Bintan Pura Team, Raja Ali Haji Maritime University (3rd Place), the SENOPATI HYDROTEAM IV Team Semarang State University (1st Runner Up), and the RANCASENA Team at Islamic University of Malang (2nd Runner Up).
In the ATSV Division category, the ITS Barunastra Team (1st Place), the Batarasena ATSV Team of the UPN Veteran East Java (2nd Place), the Surabaya State University SEAHUNTER Team (3rd Place), and the AMV UI Team (1st Place) won the championship title. Meanwhile, in the LBERC Division category, the champions were won by the SAIBATIN ITERA Team (1st Place), the Pandawa 1 (ERC) UI Team (2nd Place), LEMBUSWANA TEAM 1 Diponegoro University (3rd Place), the RTU-IRVETTA Team, Yogyakarta State University (Champion Hope 1), MARC ARINDAMA UPN Veteran Jakarta State Defense Campus (2nd Contender).
Victories in the LBFERC Division category were achieved by the Maheswari Udadi Team from Sebelas Maret University (1st Place), the CAKALANG 7 Team of the Shipbuilding Institute of Polytechnic Surabaya (2nd Place), MEKATRONIC TEAM 1 of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (3rd Place), the MR. LEBA Team University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (1st Runner Up), and LAKSMANA Team 2 Bengkalis State Polytechnic (2nd Runner Up).
Apart from the winners in the competition categories, winners were also announced for special categories. Best Naval Arch Prototype (DII) was won by the hipbuilding Institute of Polytechnic Surabaya AEROships Team. Best Fun Race LBERC was obtained by MEKATRONIC TEAM 2 University of Muhammadiyah Malang. Best Prototype–LBERC was won by the LAKSMANA 1 Team at Bengkalis State Polytechnic. Best Fun Race LBFERC was won by the Gadjah Mada University Gamantaray Jayamahe Team. Best Engine Endurance LBFERC was obtained by the Surabaya State University SEAWOLF TEAM. Best Spirit LBFERC was won by the Polibatam Hydromodeling Team Team 2 Batam State Polytechnic. The Best Prototype–LBFERC title was won by the CAKALANG 7 Team of the shipbuilding Institute of Polytechnic Surabaya. Best Favorite was won by Caraka Khatulistiwa, Tanjungpura University. The General Champion title at this year’s KKCTBN was obtained by Diponegoro University.
