Prioritizing the SMART Concept, Bondan Kanumoyoso Elected as Dean of FIB UI 2021-2025

Dr. Bondan Kanumoyoso, M. Hum S.Kom., was elected Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia (FIB UI) for the 2021 – 2025 period. In his presentation this morning, Dr. Bondan emphasized that FIB UI must become a faculty that has a SMART climate/atmosphere in its daily life. “SMART here stands for Simplicity, Mobility, Adaptive Learning, Reputationand Technology Based, which is based on nine UI values. I hope that this SMART atmosphere can support FIB UI programs going forward in carrying out its goals as a faculty that produces quality graduates,” he said. Its vision is “Becoming an Excellent, Competitive and Internationally Reputable Faculty Through Educational Innovation, Research and Community Service Based on Creative Industries, Entrepreneurial and Digital Technology while Prioritizing Cultural and Human Aspects”. Based on this vision, he developed five work programs. The first is the development of an adaptive and innovative curriculum with the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (adaptive & innovative education).

In this work program, he will develop cooperation with various universities and study programs at home and abroad, for student exchanges and research collaborations. He also plans to build a Pancasila Study Center to shape the character of students who have a nationalist spirit, but are still relevant to the times.

The second work program is conducting impactful research, by increasing the number of internationally indexed research and citations, as well as conducting downstream research that has a real impact on the industrial world and society. Third, he will implement good governance in his leadership in the form of developing an integrated management information system so that administrative processes run effectively and efficiently. In the field of human resources, he will also increase the number of accredited study programs and the number of professors and head lecturers at FIB UI.

The fourth work program is about developing cooperation with the industrial community and the world of work. This collaboration will be realized in the form of community service activities and cooperation in designing an educational curriculum blue print that can accommodate students’ transitions into the world of work. Fifth, he wants to develop an entrepreneurial culture by optimizing venture units so that start-ups in the creative industry are born, as well as encouraging the implementation of the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka program to build an entrepreneurial climate for both students and lecturers. Bondan Kanumoyoso was born in Madiun, 11 November 1972.

He completed his undergraduate education at the Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Indonesia in 1996. Then, he continued his education at the UI Postgraduate Program, and continued his education in the Advanced Master Program in Indonesian History at Leiden University and earned a Ph.D from the same university in 2011 with dissertation entitled Beyond The City Wall: Socio-Economic Development in The Ommelanden Batavia, 1684-1740.

The area of ​​specialization that he is engaged in is Indonesian history, economic history and the development of understanding and understanding of Pancasila. He is noted to have served as Secretary General of the Central Leadership Council of the Pancasila Grounding Movement.
