As many as 13 members of the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS) Universitas Indonesia (UI) 2022-2024 have been selected, coming from educators, education staff, and students. Based on Rector’s Decree Number 2441/SK/R/UI/2022 concerning the Establishment of a Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence at Universitas Indonesia, the thirteen PPKS UI Task Force members are Prof. Dr. Elizabeth Kristi Poerwandari, M.Hum., Psikolog; Dr. Iklilah Muzayyanah Dini Fajriyah, S.Th.I, M.Sc.; Prof. Manneke Budiman, S.S., M.A., Ph.D .; Ayu Lestari Purborini, S.Hum., M.Sc.; Ira Aditia Nasman, S.Sos.; Wahyuningsih Andariyanti, S.Psi.; Clarabelle Aurelia Augustine; Farras Zidane Diego Ali Farhan; Isfina Fadillah; Mawla Atqilya Muhdiar; Rini Asriasni; Salira Nurul Izzah (Faculty of Public Health); and Yohanna Magdalene.
Secretary of UI dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D., in his welcoming speech explained that the Selection Committee was selected based on objective data and information, which carried out assessments and evaluations in the selection process for the PPKS UI Task Force members. The process was carried out very carefully and objectively so that she believes that the 13 people who are members of the PPKS UI task force are the best people and provide themselves, their time, thoughts, and energy to develop programs for preventing and handling sexual violence on UI campus. .
“On behalf of UI executives, we appreciate the hard work, time, energy and thoughts that have been devoted to all the Selection Committee so that later they can complete their duties properly in the right time and we can get recommendations for the PPKS UI Task Force candidates. Now, they have been confirmed by the Rector as members of the PPKS UI Task Force,” said dr. Augustine.
According to dr. Agustin, UI community has very high hopes for the Task Force. It is a trusted backbone for UI executives to make strategic efforts to prevent sexual violence.
“Hopefully, in the future, the Task Force will be able to work together, be strong, and be able to mobilize all elements within the university to prevent sexual violence,” said Dr. Agustin. “So, we all can know, be aware of, and prevent sexual violence on campus or in academic activities that may occur outside the campus,” she said again.
One of the Selection Committee, a lecturer of Faculty of Psychology UI, Nathanael Elnadus Johanes Sumampouw, said that being a lecturer, , or student at UI has a lot of responsibility. He appreciates the elected PPKS UI Task Force members who are willing to add heavy resposibilities. “Being a member of the Task Force, we all know that this issue is a complex one. Issues that demand comprehensive handling require approaches from various disciplines, and we are grateful that at UI we have the resources.As you can see, the Task Force also consists of various fields of knowledge that each of which has an important contribution to efforts to prevent and deal with sexual violence,” he said.
In the meeting between university executives, the Selection Committee, and members of the PPKS UI Task Force, which was held offline in the Meeting Room on the 9th floor of the University Administration Center, UI Depok, Tuesday (29/11), the first internal meeting was also held between the Selection Committee and members of the Task Force. From the meeting, the Chairperson of the PPKS UI Task Force was selected, namely Prof. Manneke Budiman, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., and the secretary is a student from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UI, Rini Asriasni.
The PPKS UI Task Force members were selected after going through a series of selections that had been carried out, including the “Public Test for Prospective PPKS Task Force Members” which was held in October 2022. The seven Selection Committees were Lidwina Inge Nurtjahyo, Nathanael Elnadus Johanes Sumampouw, Bimo Kesuma Adi, Gita Ardi Lestari, Bella Marcellina Sandianta, Lintang Mutiara Savama, and Zeni Tri Lestari. The PPKS Task Force Selection Committee team then received the Rector’s Decree Number 1503/SK/R/UI/2022 concerning the Formation of a Selection Committee for the Task Force on the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence with the Secretary of UI and the Board of Legislative and Legal Services of UI. Then the PPKS Selection Committee opened recruitment for the PPKS UI Task Force in early September 2022.
Prof. Elizabeth Kristi Poerwandari from the Faculty of Psychology expressed her hope in carrying out her new mandate. She hopes to work well together and get maximum support from UI executives and can also consult with the Selection Committee to provide input to the PPKS UI Task Force.
Meanwhile, Yohanna Magdalena, a member of the PPKS Task Force who is also a FISIP UI student, realizes that many of her new tasks are for the sake of creating a campus that is safe for all people to live in without exception. “Hopefully, apart from us being able to work well, we can start helping each other and start making the environment safe,” said Yohanna.
The government through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendikbudristek RI) pays special attention to the problem of sexual violence on campus.
This is reflected in the Regulation of the Ministry of Education and Culture Number 30 of 2021 concerning the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS). The Ministerial Regulation is an effort to create a safe and comfortable environment for the community on campus.
