Depok, June 9th 2023. Six medals were brought home by students of the Faculty of Computer Science (Fasilkom) at the Universitas Indonesia (UI) in the Jogja Information Technology Session’ (Joints) 2023 competition organized by Gadjah Mada University (UGM). UI won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Data Competition, Business Plan and Programming Contest branches. For this achievement, UI was named the General Champion of 840 students from all over Indonesia.

In this competition, Fasilkom UI students were divided into six teams consisting of 17 students, namely Three Neurons, Three Outliers, puntel.ipynb, Pi Radian + Q, Chebyshev, and James.Gosling.32. As the team that won first place in the Data Competition branch, Three Neurons made several preparations, starting from exploring several sources and papers to brainstorming in consultation with the supervisor. The team, consisting of Bryan Tjandra, Made Swastika Nata Negara, and Nyoo Steven Christopher Handoko, won the championship by applying the deep learning method for image detection and pitching skills during presentations to the jury.

Still in the same competition, the Three Outliers team won second place and the puntel.ipynb team followed in third place. The two teams consisted of six students, namely Eduardus Tjitrahardja, Rahmat Bryan Naufal, Vincent Suryakim, Alif Bintang Elfandra, Oey Joshua Jodrian, and Muh. Kemal Lathif Galih Putra.

Meanwhile, Team Chebyshev, who won 1st place in the Business Plan branch, has prepared a business model canvas as the initial elimination stage. In addition, the team consisting of Ramya Nareswari Wikantiyoso and Risa Lestari prepared proposals in accordance with the provided format related to the business ideas that had been submitted. In the same event, the James.Gosling.32 Team, consisting of Fathi Qushoyyi Ahimsa, Fayya Salwa Azheva, and Mohammad Fauzan Aditya, succeeded in taking second place.

Furthermore, the Pi Radian+Q Team, which advanced as a representative from UI for the Programming Contest branch, went through the preliminary round process online last April, and continued with the final round offline in May 2023. Julian Fernando, Raden Fausta Anugrah Dianparama, and Pikatan Arya Bramajati, who were part of the team, admitted that they had prepared herself by working on questions from the previous event. For them, this effort could hone their skills and build chemistry between members.

Dean of Fasilkom UI, Dr. Petrus Mursanto, M.Sc., appreciated the achievements of the Fasilkom student team who advanced as UI representatives and won the overall championship in the competition which was held on 19th–21st of May 2023. “The Fasilkom UI student team has always been a team to be reckoned with in various student performances in the field of information and communication technology, both at the national and international levels. This achievement adds to the track record of excellence for Fasilkom students at the international level,” said Dr. Peter.
