Universitas Indonesia (UI) hosted a visiting delegation from Jiaying University, China on Wednesday (13/12) in Meeting Room A, Universitas Indonesia Central Administration Building, UI Depok Campus. This meeting aimed to discuss opportunities for cooperation and collaboration between UI and Jiaying University, China.

Secretary of UI University, dr. Agustin Kusumayati, M.Sc., Ph.D. warmly welcomed this visit. She explained that UI is a green campus that is always committed to protecting the environment, which also supports the city of Jakarta and its surroundings. “Thank you very much for your visit to our campus, we are very happy to hear and exchange information in exploring possible collaboration between the two universities,” said dr. Agustin to the delegates from Jiaying University.

UI and Jiaying University, China discussed the potential for collaboration in several programs, including student and academic staff exchange programs. Students can study at UI and get credits, and vice versa. Apart from that, Jiaying University expressed its interest in having full-time teaching staff from UI, especially those who have graduated from the Faculty of Medicine to teach at Jiaying University.

Jiaying University is an educational institution in Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, China which has been operating for 110 years. There are currently 59 undergraduate majors, 20 secondary colleges, general teaching departments, and disciplines covering 11 fields, including science, engineering, literature, law, and medicine. Jiaying University has collaborated and exchanged students with more than 20 universities and educational institutions abroad. Vice President of Jiaying University, Chen Jiancun, in his speech said, “UI has long been known for its superior educational quality and international recognition as well as extraordinary contributions in developing quality talents.”

In the past five years, Jiaying University has sent more than 60 batches of teachers to study and exchange to institutions in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. Apart from that, there are also teaching staff from the United States, England, Russia and ten other countries.

This visit was also attended by staff from the UI environment including, Head of the Center for Independent Learning (CIL) UI, F. Astha Ekadiyanto, S.T., M.Sc; Head of the UI Public Relations Bureau and KIP, Dra. Amelita Lusia, M.Si; Head of the International Office, drg. Baiduri Widanarko, M.KKK, Ph.D., and representatives from the Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Economics and Business, and Faculty of Medicine.

Meanwhile, the delegation from Jiaying University who attended included Vice President, Chen Jiancun; Director of Human Resources Department, Zhong Kaixion; Dean of Lin Fengmian School of Fine Arts, Zhang Zhixiang; Vice Dean of School of Medicine, Yang Yuhui; and Teacher of International Exchange and Cooperation Department, Zhao Shuyun.
