Potential for Research and Academic Collaboration with University of Makati

Universitas Indonesia > News > Potential for Research and Academic Collaboration with University of Makati

Universitas Indonesia (UI) held a meeting with the University of Makati, Philippines on Thursday (02/11) in Meeting Room A, University Administration Center Building (PAU), UI Depok Campus. This meeting discussed the potential for cooperation and collaboration in the fields of technology, business and academic research, such as exchanges of teaching staff and students.

The meeting was opened with remarks from drg. Baiduri Widanarko, M.KKK, Ph.D., as Plh. University Secretary and Head of the UI International Office. In her speech, Baiduri warmly welcomed the arrival of the delegation from the University of Makati. “I welcome you to our university. With this meeting, we hope to be able to discuss the potential for good collaboration between institutions. Our university now has more than 300 partners, therefore we will be happy if we can also collaborate with the University of Makati,” said Baiduri.

The opening was also continued with remarks by the President of the University of Makati Philippines, Professor Elyxzur C. Ramos, PhD, CESE who expressed his gratitude for being warmly received at UI. “Knowing that UI is a major university in Indonesia, we are honored if we can work on potential joint partnerships with UI in the future. So thank you very much for having us here.”

The discussion was led by Baiduri who discussed the two types of collaboration that UI has, namely academic and research. Academics itself takes the form of student exchanges, double degree programs to joint degree programs, while research itself focuses on developing innovation and collaborating with other parties outside and inside the university.

The University of Makati Philippines itself stated that they are focused on collaborating with external parties in the fields of technology and business. Through this discussion, the University of Makati is interested in and positively welcomes collaboration both in the academic and research fields with UI. Professor Ramos explained that research activities in the fields of innovation, science and technology are one of the things they are currently pursuing and receive support from the Department of Science and Technology of the Republic of the Philippines.

This collaborative discussion is one of the initial gates to start further discussions on collaboration between institutions. Both UI and the University of Makati Philippines hope that in the future there will be mutually beneficial cooperation for both parties.
